What Puke fails to understand is that, in the UK, just being in possession
of a handgun is a criminal offence.
Any unlicenced guns found are destroyed. Importing and exporting guns
without the requisite licence is also a criminal offence.
To buy a gun, you must first get a licence from the police.
The police will not issue you with a licence if you have not got sufficient
reason for owning a gun.
Farmers, genuine hunters and hobbyists (gun club members, clay pidgeon
shooters, etc) can usually get a licence (rifle or shotgun) if they have no
criminal record and have confimation from their doctor that they are of
sound mind.
Replica guns have just been or are about to be outlawed here.
He's comparing chalk and cheese.
More up to date figures for gun deaths in the UK.
2005/6 50
2006/7 54 (announced yesterday on BBC radio)
Total population of the UK 2006 (est.) 60.6 million
Total population of the US 2006(est.) 298.5 million, roughly 5 times the
population of the UK.
That should give about 250 - 270 gun deaths last year in the US, if the
rates were comparable.
Gun deaths in the US 2001(the latest figures I could find) 29,573
That's well over 100 times the death rate one would expect, if the US had
the same gun laws as the UK.
So you are more than 100 times more likely to be killed by a gun in the US
than in the UK.
Dream on, Puke..dream on.

What's worse is, in the US we're more likely to be killed by a family
member with a gun than by a stranger.

Yup. And what's the answer proposed by the NRA: more guns...

Have you ever taken the time to ask yourself *precisely* why you choose to
post in alt.atheism? You're a 'I've been 'possessed' by an imaginary deity'
type 'weirdo', not a reasoned, 'critical' thinker. What's behind it?

Where was this news printed, Duke? On the television
screen, perhaps, right above the Fox News logo?

One fine day in alt.atheism, duke <duckgumbo32@cox.net> bloodied us up
with this:

Gun crimes in mainstream Europe is 3 times that of the US according to
the printed news.

What's a gun crime, puke? Don't you advocate the GOP sponsored ownership
of guns? Isn't that what righteous americans do, use guns, like Cheney?
Are you unamerican now?
Duke.
Unamerican-unamerican.
What a pathetic twit.
