I have liked each new Windows OS less than the previous one. Before my
old boat anchor at home died, I was running `95. From what I've heard,
Vista will make me angry enough to throw the machine through a window
(pun intended). We use XP Pro here at work, and I think it's the

I've had a new install of XP Home for 2 weeks now (after 22 months of XP
Pro). It's taken me that 2 weeks to get it to stop with the bleeding
"Accessibility Options" ***** that pops up if you hold the right Shift key
down for 8 seconds. They didn't make it straightforward and simple to
kill it, either.

Next project: kill the "Messenger" thing that tells me I've connected to
my ISP. Won't go away until I actually move the mouse over the pop-up or
click the "X" on it.

Biggest pisser for me: no actual DOS shell, just a "virtual" shell that's
damn slow and doesn't do all the things DOS could do.

My old '486 laptop is running '95. I'll never upgrade it--instead, it's
my "do all the simple ***** the 1.75GHz XP-driven mechanical ***** CAN'T
do--i.e., a proper fast DOS shell and no freaking arguments. It's a bit
cludgy having to use the laptop to grab stuff over the network, work on
it there, then send the finished file (usually a simple text file) back
to the desktop for final work that XP can do without drooling on itself.
