Happy 4th from the USA |
For all it's worth, it's Independence day. Somehow we're still
independent. I felt like flying the flag upside down, but I have a family
to protect. Hope you all stay safe.

I know what you mean. It's Independence Day, but I'm just not feeling
very patriotic. Yeah. Happy Fourth.

It's Happy Surveliance Day. You're ordered to rejoyce about being
voyeured.

Thank you for not performing such a disrespectful and shameful act.
Whatever your political leanings, such behavior would have been
needlessly obnoxious, hateful and ungrateful.

So was the bombing of my mailbox on the 3rd, which could have been a
gift from some Republican's unruly teenager who thought atheists have no
right to be citizens. But it was probably just a random act of
delinquency.
I'm slightly to the left of your average violence-hating liberal, BTW.
I'm glad to hear you think flying the flag upside down is a bad thing.
I'll have to consider it some day if I ever need to make a statement to
my rightard neighbors. But since my flag seems to be buried in the
attic somewhere, I'll have to settle for waking them up at 5am with my
bikes. :-)

Sorry to hear about the mailbox. Lacking any info beyond what you've
provided, your reasoning sounds a little paranoid to me, however.

It would be a statement that reflects very badly on you. I have
neighbors who are RR types and some that are flaming libs. I can't say
that I've had problems with any of them WRT politics or religion.
But since my flag seems to be buried in the
attic somewhere, I'll have to settle for waking them up at 5am with my

A much more acceptable form of payback 8^)

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet Fester (not@home.com) made
the light shine upon us with this:

Well, I've been papered three times, egged, had a tire slashed, and an egg
carton full of human feces was left at my doorstep once. Then the mailbox.
All within the last four years - after I started displaying atheist slogans
on my vehicles. Yeah, I guess I'm a little paranoid. :-)
I let the mailbox incident go without a reaction. I replaced it with a $70
vandal-proof rural mailbox that might withstand a stick of dynamite. I
played a bunch of pranks when I was a kid too, I guess it's catching up
with me now.

Flying the flag upside down means something specific that is not
disrespectful or shameful.

Haha.
Well, if he doesn't respect our constitution, should we really be
surprised that he also doesn't respect our flag?

It is extremely disrespectful as a form of protest, as was indicated.
Go find someone more ignorant than you are (if possible) to patronize.

I did.
It's still not disrespectful as a protest. BURNING the flag would be
disrespectful. Flying it upside down would just be a statement that the
country is in trouble.

Or perhaps displaying it in tatters. Like all those idiots that attached
it to their cars just after 9-11....
