:|Merry Christmas. In expressing greetings and good wishes, the concept
:|is to put yourself in the perspective of the recipient, and wish them
:|what would be from *their* point of view (not yours) a happy holiday.
:|Thus Cary could wish YOU a Merry Christmas even while not believing in
:|Jesus, but might express to other people with different beliefs a
:|different happy holiday. It is the showing of consideration that
:|makes a holiday greeting pleasant rather than offensive.
