Object: Harry Potter author admits series character is homosexual
I find it absolutely disgusting that once again, entertainment
directed towards youth has been decimated by turning it into
pornographic trash. Gay lust has no place in these books.

Harry Potter author admits series character is homosexual
NEW YORK - J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series
that ended last summer, admitted to an audience in New York last night
that Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is a
homosexual.
After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members.
She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."
"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert
Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and
bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said
of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly,
terribly let down."
Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."
"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction."
Potter readers on fan sites and elsewhere on the Internet have
speculated on the sexuality of Dumbledore, noting that he has no close
relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past. And explicit
scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction.
Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth
Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a
reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to
Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing
the truth about her character.
Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her
first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter
books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to
"question authority."
Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to
Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her
news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.

Here on our planet, there's boat loads more sex in the bible
than in all the Harry Potter books combined.... no comparison,
really.
If this is how you react to Harry Potter, you must get violent
toward anyone who suggests allowing children near the
bible.
Oh, wait! There's that Satanic hypocrisy of your's! Never mind.

Considering it is a book aimed at young people it would have been less
controversial if they just kept to killing stuff.

When Tom Baker announced his departure from the BBC SF show "Dr. Who"
he wished good luck to the next actor to take on the role "whoever he
or she might be."
The idea that the next Doctor might be a woman caused ratings to jump
to new heights as people tuned in to catch up with a childhood
favorite. Even after the Beeb announced that Peter Davidson was the
5th Doctor, the ratings stayed high. People have always wondered if
Baker dropped that little bomb intentionally.
I think Ms. Rowling was on the same track.

Of course, it really shouldn't ever come into play, when you consider
the stories are told from the perspective of a student who would
likely rather not even think that his elderly professors had sex
lives.
It's not really strange that she would have a piece of information
that would inform Dumbledore's character, and which never was directly
referenced in the books.

He is right there is a lot of magic/witchcraft in the books...no need
to read them to determine that. Of course the author fully admits to
them being fictional. Now there's even more witchcraft and magic in
another popular book called "The Bible" and get this, a lot of wacko
think it is for real. Not only that but this Bible is rife with
incest, lurid tales of genocide, and dead rising from the grave. If
anything it is this "Bible" thing that need to be controlled. At least
getting some electro-shock therapy and padded cells for those poor
delusional people that think it is real.

I'm disappointed, but not really surprised. Sabathia and Carmona have
both sucked in the post-season, with the exception of Carmona's
performance in game 2 of the ALDS - and middle reliever Rafael Perez
has been every bit as bad in the playoffs as he was good during the
regular season. I figured the series would likely go the full seven
games no matter who wins it.
I admit I'll be a little disappointed if Cleveland doesn't make it to

If they win tonight, great. If they don't -
well, I'll root for the Rockies.

Repent, I say. Repent!

I'm more or less geographically obligated to be an Indians fan. <G>

The fat lady hasn't sung yet. <G>
Matsuzaka is scheduled to start for the Sox tonight (unless Francona
decides, with the series up for grabs, to go with Beckett on short
rest), and if there's one thing he's proven in this post-season, it's
that he can't beat Cleveland. ;-)
But then, Cleveland has Westbrook starting, and the only thing he's
been consistent at is being inconsistent, so game 7 could be
interesting to say the least....

Francona has barely dipped into his bull pen, and has
all of his relievers (and some of his starters) for
backup.
Whether the Sox do it with three pitchers or five, the
fact remains that they're going to do it.

There's an excellent chance that it'll come down to a duel
between bull pens -- the entire bull pen -- rather than
starting pitchers. If that does turn out to be the case, I
can't see the Sox losing.
