Object: Help me name my new atheist dog
I'm moving into a new house with a bigger yard. I have a wife and two
sons 11 and 14. We are planning on getting a new puppy, a Keeshond.
You can see one here plus a video.
http://www.akc.org/breeds/recbreeds/keeshon.cfm. They are a friendly
dog that comes from holland.
We have been trying to come up with a list of names. I thought maybe
you guys could help. My youngest son is going to be the one to pick
this dogs name since the oldest got to pick the last pets name.
However we are trying to come up with a list that is acceptable to the
entire family. Something that has the flavor of holland would be
nice but we are also a family with a sense of humor and we don't think
the dog will suffer any emotional scars if his/her name is not exactly
respectable.
My oldest son suggested "Youstupidshit" as a name but I think that
crosses the line so I am not going to entertain names such as this.
It's just too long for the dog to understand. Even though it can be
entertaining.
So here goes the current list:
Hans - Only dutch name I know. Hans Christian Anderson.
Kay - Short for Keeshound. Kees is pronounced Kayz.
Yeti - They do look like a Yeti or Sasquach.
ET - So when we don't want him to follow us we can say "ET go
home".
It - They sort of look like Cousin IT from Adams Family.
Forest - After Forest Gump. Face it dogs are dumb and I'd like to
remind him.
Dusky - Sort of matches the dogs color
Woody - I wanted to nake my oldest this name but was vetoed by my
wife.
Jasper - Same with this name.
Autumn - To appease my wife.
Muff - I managed to sneak this one past the wife and she didn't
catch on
Critter - The family favorite so far. Just imagine being able to
yell "Here critter" out the back door. I always like to keep the
neighbors on there toes.
Chewi - Reason given below.
We don't have any female names yet. Except autumn and maybe critter
so I guess the odds are we are getting a male.
Don't worry about me going public with this I won't be using any of
these names as my secret password.
To turn the dog atheist I am going to train the dog to bark at Jehovas
Witnesses. This is done by paying a stranger in a suit to come up to
the door at odd hours and harrassing the master. The dog should
sense my irritation. Wait a minute, I guess I don't need to pay
anyone.

Also I am going to provide a cross as a chew toy. I am not sure
whether I should put a bad tasting substance on it to teach him it is
bad or just let him chew the heck out of it. I think I will need a
Star of David and other symbols also.
Note: For those of you who are not to sharp on the uptake the last
part was mostly tongue in cheek.

In my case it is a bit of senility. Now that you reminded me I
remember Danny Kay singing "Wonderful, wonderful, Copenhagen". If
you had asked me where Copenhagen was I would have said Denmark. It
is often the case that people have information in their minds but it
doesn't come to mind. Especially when it is not something they have
dealt with in a long time.
The way it worked in my mind is I first though of Danny Kay skating.
I was probably thinking about Hans Brinker or something. However I
didn't remember the name Hans Brinker and instead I remembered Danny
Kay being in some movie with skating and was telling some kid the
story of the Ugly Duckling and remembered that Hans Christian Andersen
wrote the story. You have to forgive me this is from my childhood.
Probably 30+ years ago.
So I think the real issue is the insignificance of your country in the
minds of most Americans. We don't think about you a lot. I did get
a lot of pleasure out of your reaction so I don't imagine I will
forget for a while.

Yes, it a good thing that you don't use oil when cooking a dog.
Roasted or baked is better. (more tender)

Unless, of course, you use olive oil (extra virgin, cold pressed)

However we are trying to come up with a list that is acceptable to the
entire family. Something that has the flavor of holland would be
nice but we are also a family with a sense of humor and we don't think
the dog will suffer any emotional scars if his/her name is not exactly
respectable.

How about Dog Almighty? You could call it Mighty for short.

Isn't "Might Dog" a dog food. So I think the joke may already have been played.

Call him Cleopatra. I'm not sure if she was an atheist, but tha's how
