Object: Here's one reason it's hard to detect satire
These days, things are getting too close to the fiction we write to
spoof the religious nuts:
http://www.intimewithgod.com/
I need a quiet time with a good book. This ***** is giving me a
headache...

What's worse is the site this one wants you to visit in order to
support Moore: http://www.morallaw.org . It's about as sickening and
ill-informed as one would expect, although it does have its moments on
(unintentional) humor. Their mission statement reads:
The specific and primary purposes are to assist, encourage,
promote, sponsor, and support in the adoption, defense, education,
furtherance, interpretation, promotion and support of and
concerning laws consistent with good morals and values as set
forth in the Holy bible.
Promoting the promotion of something is always good. This site is
also good enough to warn of the impending economic destruction to be
wrought by the boycott of the Christian Drivers Coalition:
The Christian Drivers Coalition, a group of independent truck
drivers, is currently undergoing a boycott of the state of
Alabama. Lee Carraway, a spokesman on behalf of the association,
declared this is "not a tolerable situation." The coalition -
which covers 48 states - are "devoted patriots and believers in
the Lord" who believe that the ten commandments monument belongs
in the Judicial Building as a reminder of our foundational roots.
I wonder if two guys and a pickup would be enough to take up the
slack.

As long as they have the requisite rifle rack in the back, I'll bet
they'd do just fine.

In a message sent 'round the world, *Nemo* poured fuel on the fire with
the following:

Heh. That site had me going for a while too. Good satire always
contains a grain of truth, but in the crazy world in which we live,
not only does satire sound like truth, but often the truth sounds like
satire.

I like the statement,
"Today, more and more people are acknowledging the
need for continual education on the laws of God. By displaying this clock,
you help send that message to everyone you know."
Some people really have a problem remembering the 10 Commandments?
