Polls Slam Cruise Romance As A Publicity Stunt

Tom Cruise's burgeoning love affair with Katie Holmes has been slammed
as a publicity stunt by readers of two American magazines.
Polls in People and US Weekly show that a majority of both
publications' readers are sceptical about the sincerity of the
Hollywood couple's relationship.
Sixty-three per cent of entrants to the People poll believe the romance
is a sham, while 65 per cent who voted at US Weekly agree.
The American public remains dubious as both Cruise and Holmes have
films released next month - Cruise stars in War Of The Worlds, while
Holmes is in Batman Begins.
The New York Times newspaper is similarly unconvinced.
A columnist there writes, "Through all the changes that have swept
Hollywood over the years, one thing still endures: strategic love."
"But it is still the easiest way to grab flattering publicity."
Cruise, 42, has been celebrating his love for 26-year-old Holmes during
numerous public appearances, most notably on Oprah Winfrey's talk show
earlier this week.
On Winfrey's programme, Cruise leapt up and down on the host's famous
couch shouting "I'm in love! I'm in love!" while laughing manically.

Cruise fired his publicity manager and has been running amuck.
The problem is, he has become repulsive to many people.
He has been wearing his Scientology on his sleeve, and using
his star billing to get on TV shows and push it.
But his recent antics are rubbing a lot of people the wrong
way. He has long had a creepy side to him, and a lot of his
fans are seeing a bit too much of that.
He's sort of becoming the new Michael Jackson.
Basically he has been acting like a drunken 14 year
old as of late.
If it was just a stupid movies star being an idiot, it would
just be an idiot movie star being an idiot.
But he has been peddling Scientology and pushing Hubbard's
idiot anti-psychiatric paranoia. After Actress Brooks-Shield's
pregnancy, she suffered post partum depression and got
medical help. Including drugs to get over the worst of this.
Cruise ranted and raved about this publically. And attacked her
for resorting to drugs.
She has shot back Cruise should stick with saving the world
from aliens. No one is quite sure if she is refering to his new
movie War of the Worlds, or Hubbard's moronic claims we are all
infested with the spirits of dead space aliens (BTs body thetans)
created 75 million years ago by an evil outer space dictator
named Xenu.
Scientology's headquarters in LA is called by many in Hollywood,
the "Pod Palace". Scientologists there are well disliked in many
quarters for their pushiness and sometimes aggressiv attempts to
recruit others to Scientology.
All of this has been right nice for snarky entertainment columnists,
who have been sniping at Cruise recently, with occasional asides
aimed at Scientology by some.
Ophra and other fools have been pretty much letting
Cruise have lots of air time and let him run amuck.
Where this will all go is anybody's guess.

crime syndicate by Michael Paddington, I believe it was, wherein the
affidavits allege that Cruise, Travolta, and Paddington signed up with
the syndicate to "cure" them of their homosexuality. Of course they
denied it and the homosexual relationships they had, and Cruise has
been trying to sue people he allegedly screwed to get them to shut up
(or something; I recall someone offering a bounty for gay sex photos
of Cruise) so now if he comes out, it'll be perjury.
