Hillary! Doesn't Want A One-night Stand |
http://theanchoressonline.com/2007/12/03/egad-hillary-wants-no-one-night-
stands/
Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking in Bettendorf,
Iowa, trying to convince a crowd to caucus for her, explained that she
wants to be with them so that she can win Iowa in November 2008.
“I want a long term relationship,” she said. “I don’t want to just
have a one night stand with all of you.”
Clinton is trying to earn support of Iowans by launching a new theme
today — “Take your Buddy to Caucus.” This is a new strategy from Clinton,
who has said that most of her supporters have never been to a caucus
before.

Egad…Where to start? I’m not even going to get into the fact that Mrs.
Clinton essentially had a “one night stand” with New York, putting on a
baseball cap, declaring she’d “always” been a Yankees fan, buying a house
in Chappequa…I think her mom lives there, because Hillary lives in DC and
Bill…he seems to live on airplanes, but I digress, and let’s not go
there…
Instead, let’s think about how badly managed this campaign is. Earlier
today I wrote about the Hillary Team taking the Child Obama to task for
declaring himself interested in being president. That was a stupid move.
Now, she coos to a crowd, “I don’t just want a one-night stand with you…”
Honestly, I’m laughing and shivering at the same time. Whoever is
advising this woman needs to be canned. Someone has got to tell her that
when one’s husband is a cigar-chomping serial-womanizer over whom the
left chuckles and the right scowls, and when one is a woman running for
president, one does not say “I don’t want a one-night stand with you,” -
in Iowa, of all places - unless one is an Ingénue starlet or one is
completely out-of-touch with how one’s persona - and one’s mate - are
perceived.
Ummm…I think the latter.
Clearly Hillary is overly-insulated, or she is even better at
“compartmentalizing” things than her husband is said to be.
Or, she’s just so arrogant that she thinks she can be saucy and sexual
and no one will ever align it against with her husband’s exploits.
Or, she really doesn’t think about Bill Clinton at all unless she needs
to, either to get him up to bat for her, or to stand on his record in
order to claim it as her own. Hence, she doesn’t get the guffaws that
will undoubtedly greet this line.
Perhaps this is the danger of surrounding yourself with loyal “yes”
people and with press members who only write what is pleasing to you: you
have no one to tell you that some gags just won’t work, that some one-
liners are simply out of the question for you, and that some remarks -
already of questionable taste - uttered from your lips border on the
tawdry and almost make your presidential campaign look like a parody on
MAD-TV.
“Madam” President doesn’t work if the president sounds like a real madam.
UPDATED: More from Thom, who writes, Does she realize it sounds like
she’s talking about herself, here? Negatively? with regards to this
quote:
“So you decide which makes more sense: Entrust our country to someone
who is ready on day one … or to put America in the hands of someone with
little national or international experience, who started running for
president the day he arrived in the U.S. Senate,” Clinton said.

But don't worry, Democrats, she'll respect you in the morning.

Isn't that the person who just got about 65% on her *re*-election?
This is what you see as "more scandal"?

Clearly Hillary is overly-insulated, or she is even better at

Republican pundits still think that mentioning Bill will turn people
off Hillary. How funny.
Or, she’s just so arrogant that she thinks she can be saucy and sexual
and no one will ever align it against with her husband’s exploits.
Or they will realize that the Republicans care more about a consensual
***** than they do about a senator who hires hookers and dresses in
diapers. They care more about a consensual ***** than they do about
torture. Etc.
