Hmmmm....Which One Shall I Attend? |
Sonfest Vs Skinfest!
January 13, 2005
Brad Weier - The Queensland Times
Son versus skin, faith versus flesh, Christian rock versus Elephant
Rock.
Talk about two worlds colliding.
Ipswich music fans can enjoy the Sonfest Christian Music Festival or
the Nude Performing Arts Festival on the same weekend this month.
While they might be poles apart, the three-day festivals will
attract hundreds of visitors to the region between January 20 and 24.
Sonfest will be held at Boonah, while the naturist festival will be
held less that 20km away at Lake Moogerah Road.
Both will offer a diverse range of performers with one major
difference, as naturist festival spokesman Jaak explained yesterday.
"It's something that hasn't been done in Australia as far as we
know," Jaak said.
"There's been music and dances for a day at different retreats but
never anything on a bigger scale.
Jaak said society's perception of nudists and their way of life was
well off the mark.
"Most people assume that being a nudist is a very sexual thing but
that's not the case at all - being a nudist is a great leveller," he
said.
"People can come here free from the restrictions of clothes and
enjoy good food, great music and an easy-going social atmosphere.
"Some of our performers will be clothed but it could be that once
they get into it they'll start taking their clothes off on stage."
Jaak said he was confident the couples-only event would not draw
festival-goers away from the nearby Sonfest.
"There's nudists who are Christians and Christians who are nudists
but I think it's safe to say we will both attract different groups,"
he said.
"We're mainly expecting over 30s to come here but we might get a few
younger ones."

That interesting isn't it.
The fabled Adam and Eve were naked until the magic apple allowed them to
understand it was "wicked" (and thus become as knowledgable as the rather
dimwitted god of that book).
It would seem then, that those who prefer to be naked and feel no
inhibitions about it, are in fact more like the fabled Adam and Eve and as
such are better christians than the ones beating themselves with christ
rock (which is much like being in hell already - perhaps they're being
punished).
gater.

Talk about a hard choice. Most people who really look better in
the dark. So the nude performing arts festival leaves you wishing you
were blind, or stultifyingly bad music and puerile stupidity leaves you
wishing you were deaf. ***** it. I'd stay home and watch TV.
