I'm still trying to remember what I ate.
Oh yeah! Red beans and chick peas with vegetarian Korma sauce that I picked
up at the Indian grocery store, over brown rice. Yummy, but f'ing hot! Oh
yeah and I also had mango chutney. Yummy :)

Good man - your efforts are commendable.
Maybe we should start a counter- campaign to eat meat on Good Fridays.
My parents amaze me - they haven't set foot in a church since 1972- they
don't even consider themselves atheist- their lack of belief simply isn't an
issue with them- yet I caught them eating fish this Friday.
When I questioned my dad on it, he simply replied, "Well, it's traditional-
we even celebrate Christmas too, you know?"
I suppose with some people, the brainwashing and conditioning goes too deep.

Might it be an ethnic thing? In my family, we always had the
traditional Scandinavian seafood banquet on Christmas Eve. My brother
and I still enjoy doing that, although the folks are gone and we're
both non-believers. We end up sitting around and saying "Oh, ya, you
betcha" every 15 seconds or so. ;->

McDonalds is expensive?

Yes, about twice as expensive as a regular meal her.
I can get a very decent meal for Bt. 40, including drinks. A big mac
combo costs Bt 99, and Bt 109 if you supersize it. This is a special.
Normally the price is Bt 109/119. Triple the price of a good meal.

I had a McDonald's cheese burger in Manila once. Judging from the
taste and gritty texture of the thing, I had to assume they dropped a
whole Carabao into the grinder -- hoofs and all. Also, I'm fairly
certain there was no cheese on it. The ketchup was made from bananas.
Other than that, Yah. Just like here.

Back in the early 1970s, I had a burger at the Paris McDonald's on the
Left Bank. The meat was okay, but they put the tartar fish sauce on
it. Yuck. One would think that the French would know better!
(No I didn't eat there voluntarily. My 16-year-old brother was with

In New Zealand they have a burger with a big slice of beet on it. In
Hawaii they have one with a big slice of pineapple instead of meat.
I was more wondering if the quality was worth the expense. I mean,

I rarely eat at McDonalds (not because it's bad, but because it's
expensive) but Friday I made an exception. The double cheeseburger was
delicious.

McDonalds is expensive?

Jos lives in Bangkok.

Is Thai McDonalds significantly different from US McDonalds?

In a way. Can you get Mc Somtam? :-)
They have a burger here without buns. They use rice patties instead.
Only for a local speciality, though. The normal burgers, are 'normal'.
No apple pie, but exactly the same wrapper filled with corn or
pinapple or taro.

I wonder if it's okay to spill some Iraqi's guts on the ground on
"Good Friday".

Is it better to be a militant Christian or a pacifistic atheist? I
guess the atheist can't ask for forgiveness for all the people he's
murdered, but then I guess he doesn't need it.

The Wife and I scarfed down a couple of greasy cheeseburgers (with
bacon)... Neither of us even knew it was 'Good Friday(tm)'
However, We did have a bottle and a half of decent jesus blood -- to cut
the grease you see.
