The only thing worse than being ignorant is not knowing how ignorant
you are. That's V's problem. I want to share this with you because I
recognize the need to think and act strategically as well as
tactically. To top that off, V likes to posture as a guardian of
virtue
and manners. However, when it comes right down to it, what he is
pushing is both litigious and virulent. Bonapartism and
obstructionism
are not synonymous. In fact, they are so frequently in opposition and
so universally irreconcilable that statements like, "He got a little
carried away with his hidebound propositions" accurately express the
feelings of most of us here.
V can't possibly believe that he is a paragon of morality and wisdom.
He's picayunish, but he's not that picayunish. His objective is
clear:
to dispense outright misinformation and flashlight-under-the-chin
ghost
stories before long. In this era of rising Trotskyism, we must fight
the warped, distorted, misshapen, unwholesome monstrosity that his
policies have become. Now, that last statement is a bit of an
oversimplification, an overgeneralization. But it is nevertheless
substantially true.
V has no soul. He vehemently denies that, of course. But he obviously
would, because if he is going to talk about higher standards, then he
needs to live by those higher standards. After all, his scare tactics
are based on two fundamental errors. They assume that it's okay if
his
crusades initially cause our quality of life to degrade because
"sometime", "someone" will do "something" "somehow" to counteract
that
trend. And they promote the mistaken idea that "metanarratives" are
the
root of tyranny, lawlessness, overpopulation, racial hatred, world
hunger, disease, and rank stupidity. We mustn't let V dismantle the
family unit. That would be like letting the Mafia serve as a new
national police force in Italy. There is an unpleasant fact, painful
to
the tender-minded, that one can deduce from the laws of nature. This
fact is also conclusively established by direct observation. It is a
fact so obvious that rational people have always known it and no one
doubted it until V and his legatees started trying to deny it. The
fact
to which I am referring states that V's eccentricity is surpassed
only
by his vanity. And his vanity is surpassed only by his empty
theorizing. (Remember his theory that squalid authoritarians are all
inherently good, sensitive, creative, and inoffensive?)
V accuses me of being narrow-minded. Does he think I'm narrow-minded
because I refuse to accept his claim that there should be publicly
financed centers of vigilantism? If so, then I guess I'm as
narrow-minded as I could possibly be. This theme has been struck
before. But let's not quibble about that. If he were to
institutionalize philistinism through systematic violence, distorted
religion, and dubious science, social upheaval and violence would
follow. It is therefore clear that if V can't be reasoned out of his
prejudices, he must be laughed out of them. If V can't be argued out
of
his selfishness, he must be shamed out of it. He is completely gung-
ho
about fascism because he lacks more pressing soapbox issues.
What shall we do? We have several options. We might shelter initially
unpopular truths from suppression, enabling them to ultimately win
out
through competition in the marketplace of ideas. We might transform
our
culture of war and violence into a culture of peace and nonviolence
and
encourage others to do the same. Or, we might exert a positive
influence on the type of world that people will live in a thousand
years from now. Any of these options, I feel, are acceptable. Still,
we
must choose one of them or else V will subvert existing lines of
power
and information before the year is over. The facts are in: V's
convictions celebrate deception, diversion, and fashion.

I apologize for taking so long to respond to you Hollis, but I
overlooked your reply until yesterday.
I appreciate you taking the time to pen your thoughts to me, but I do
not really understand what you are getting at.
I would be happy to discuss this matter, if you could rewrite it,
using down to earth terminology Hollis.

Ballad of Hollis Brown
Bob Dylan
Hollis Brown
He lived on the outside of town
Hollis Brown
He lived on the outside of town
With his wife and five children
And his cabin fallin' down
You looked for work and money
And you walked a rugged mile
You looked for work and money
And you walked a rugged mile
Your children are so hungry
That they don't know how to smile
Your baby's eyes look crazy
They're a-tuggin' at your sleeve
Your baby's eyes look crazy
They're a-tuggin' at your sleeve
You walk the floor and wonder why
With every breath you breathe
The rats have got your flour
Bad blood it got your mare
The rats have got your flour
Bad blood it got your mare
If there's anyone that knows
Is there anyone that cares?
You prayed to the Lord above
Oh please send you a friend
You prayed to the Lord above
Oh please send you a friend
Your empty pockets tell yuh
That you ain't a-got no friend
Your babies are crying louder
It's pounding on your brain
Your babies are crying louder
It's pounding on your brain
Your wife's screams are stabbin' you
Like the dirty drivin' rain
Your grass it is turning black
There's no water in your well
Your grass is turning black
There's no water in your well
You spent your last lone dollar
On seven shotgun shells
Way out in the wilderness
A cold coyote calls
Way out in the wilderness
A cold coyote calls
Your eyes fix on the shotgun
That's hangin' on the wall
Your brain is a-bleedin'
And your legs can't seem to stand
Your brain is a-bleedin'
And your legs can't seem to stand
Your eyes fix on the shotgun
That you're holdin' in your hand
There's seven breezes a-blowin'
All around the cabin door
There's seven breezes a-blowin'
All around the cabin door
Seven shots ring out
Like the ocean's pounding roar
There's seven people dead
On a South Dakota farm
There's seven people dead
On a South Dakota farm
Somewhere in the distance
There's seven new people born
