It is this type of predictable corruption that keeps various
governments, organizations, and even individuals such as myself from
donating funds to holocaust education groups.

An internationally known Holocaust education group disbursed -
apparently illegally - more than $700,000 to an associate of an
Israeli cabinet minister now under investigation for corruption, a
joint investigation by The Jewish Week and the Israeli business daily
Globes has learned.
In 2003, March of the Living, a New Jersey-based charity, began
payments totaling $709,000 to Curtis Hoxter, who is also closely tied
to former World Jewish Congress leader Israel Singer. The group began
its payments to Hoxter the same year Singer was instructed to stop
funneling unauthorized payments to him via the World Jewish Congress -
payments that had by then totaled $657,600.
During this time, Singer was also involved in negotiations to join
Hoxter's Manhattan public relations firm as a partner.

It appears to be a straightforward case of theft and embezzlement. A
crime having nothing to do per se with the Holocaust. Where there is
money there are thieves, which is a sad truth that transcends religious
affiliation.

The main premise of this book is that after the 1967 Arab-Israeli war,
the powers-that-be in the U.S. saw Israel as a geopolitical asset in
the Middle East. Johnson, in particular, decided to tap that asset in
the interests of the Cold War. Thus, Jewish organizations siezed the
opportunity and in lock-step with U.S. interest, began to exploit the
memory of the holocaust, supposed "victim" status, and claims of anti-
Semitism in support of Israel. Could this theory be true?
I went to my local college library which has a small section of books
on permanent display dedicated to Jewish literature. Not one book on
display was published before 1967. But, there were more books in the
collection, so a little advertising says, related to the Holocaust. So
I search the e-catlog and indeed found some 838 titles through 2006 on
or related to jewish holocaust. Only 3 were published before 1967.
After 1967 the number of books on the subject explodes: 8 in the 60s,
48 in the 70s, nearly 200 in the 80s, and almost 400 in the 90s.
While I don't claim this survey is scientific, it might be indicative
of Finkelstein's theory which seems basically right-on regarding when
and how the holocaust came into public consciousness as we know it
today.
Out of curiosity, I searched for Finkelstein's book, the Holocaust
Industry, among the library's collection. It was not in the 838
titles. Furthermore, Finkelstein's name wasn't even in the listing.
What does that tell you? In a college library? Doesn't this book
belong among holocaust literature? How are students supposed to
analyze and test and study Holocaust claims unless, of course, they
are not supposed to do so? Someone once said there's a thin line
between brainwashing and education.
Finkelstein's book made me feel a sense of release and sadness.
Release because what Finkelstein writes is not anti-Simetic but merely
gives voice to what many people probably suspect without even reading
his book. What is that? As Rabbi Wolf at Yale states: "It seems to me
the Holocaust is being sold...it is not being taught." How many others
must feel this way and for fear of being labelled anti-Semitic never
discussed the matter, even among friends?
For my part, I had for years attributed the "selling" of the Holocaust
to what the Brazilian educator Freire called "pedagogy of the
oppressed." Why else would a people (Jews) who managed to survive
Hitler turn around and subjugate others (Palestinians)? Oh, did they
learn their lessons. Yet according the Finkelstein, the answer is much
simpler and has nothing to do with lessons and pedagogy and all that
humbug but cashing-in and opportunism.
I am saddened because The Holocaust Industry makes clear that the
suffering of some Jewish people has been exploited by Jewish
organizations and others to deflect legitimate criticisms of Israel,
including disenfranchisement and brutal and tortuous treament of
Palestinians.
Although Israel appears above criticism these days, the remarkable
thing is that Finkelstein has nevertheless come forward to clean house
on the matter. He is, indeed, a courageous soul. (If you don't think
so, read the email which he posts on his website.) This book is
helping us to understand and release this burden called Israel, so
that we can live honestly with the memory of what happened to Jews
during WW II and how some prominent Jews and powerful Jewish
organizations are regrettably denigrating that memory.

Why am I interested in the Holocaust Industry? Because X and Y from
Jewish elites stole immense sums from tens of thousands of Holocaust
survivors? Yes, but that is secondary, somewhat academic as I am not a
member of the tribe. The primary reason is that the Holocaust industry
described by "shortdog" above has had broader effects than just the
theft of money from victims. It provides the basic ideological
justification for the oppression of our Congress and Executive. It
provides the substrate, the argument at the emotional level, for
Israeli oppression of Palesintians and other Middle Easterners such as
the Lebanese. In the functional sense it is at the root of our worst
foreign policy problems, the problems which are bankrupting us,
destroying our international reputation. And how is this American
sacrifice to be justified? After all it's something very dangerous for
all Americans: the demand that we support the brute-force theft of
half the West Bank and the creation of Palestinian bantustans in the
rest. That, ladies and gentlemen, obviously isn't in the American
interest. The unanticipated consequences of our participation in this
ongoing crime have already been catastrophic. The trend is inexorably
down unless we change our policy regarding Israel. Are we not a
sovereign nation? Does our government not have a responsibility to
make such decisions based on the overall American interest rather than
those of a particular governing elite in Israel? The answer is obvious
but we are a long way from achieving our independence and best
interests. The Holocaust Industry has been a central part of it.

side. The first of them came to what is now Texas, with a Spanish Land
Grant. Several of my ancestors married native American women. Mexican
since this was part of Mexico.
The Irish moved a hundred or so miles to the north east, mostly to
get away from slavery, a freeman has trouble finding employment in a
slave state. Like the Germans many took native women for wives. One in
particular was part Black, and part Seminole Indian. Her mother was a
escaped slave, her father a native.
Both families were part of the Free State of Van And movement, began
after the Republic of Texas became a Slave Republic. None of my
ancestors served in the Confederate Army. My great great grand father
went north and tried to enlist, but was rejected, as a possible
Southern spy.
During WW11, my father was a Sea Bee in the Pacific for the entire
conflict. His brother was badly wounded, in Sicily. My mothers 4
brothers, with a German sur name were all assigned to the Pacific.
Three came home the fourth went down with his ship.
I served 5 years in the Marines, two tours in Nam.
One of my brothers served in Germany, and toured Death Camps, and
Museums. Took lots of pictures and brought home a stack of Jewish
propaganda. Another brother served in the Marines he went to Nam
after I left.

your uncles were sent to the Pacific Theater rather than the Atlantic.

fluently, but the Army in its wisdom gave him a rifle and made him a
grunt. Go figure.

My German ancestors stopped using German, by 1900. One of my uncles
died in 1911 in Germany. He was a solider, in the American Army. My
family suffered greatly from the Anti German Fervor. My Mexican
relatives also suffered from racial hatred. And my American Indian
relatives suffered quite a lot.
Drop the victim hood, work for equal justice for all. BTW do you
know what IINA means, did you know that city parks in many northern
cities were off limits to the Irish?

I did not know this. I can't say I'm surprised. New immigrants always
start at the bottom of the ladder and work their way up. These days it's
easier because of civil rights laws. Contrast the Irish experience with
the Vietnamese or Hmong experiences. A century makes a huge difference.
I grew up in Texas when it was racially and ethnically segregated. I now
live in California, which has a sordid history of ethnic discrimination,
against Blacks, Chinese and Japanese. It's better now, both here and in
Texas, although I know from experience that old habits die hard in Houston.
I volunteered for some years with the Anti Defamation League to return a
favor and to support its objectives. It will defend the rights of
anyone, regardless of faith, if they suffer discrimination because of
their beliefs. It has helped Seventh-Day Adventists, Muslims and
Christian groups because a threat to one is a threat to all.
