SINGAPORE : The issue of homosexuality will always bring out tensions
in society, says Minister of State for Education Lui Tuck Yew.
And this is why, he adds, it is important to allow the people to come
to their own conclusions about the matter.
Rear-Admiral Lui made this point when he was asked about homosexuality
at a dialogue session at the annual Pre-University Seminar held at the
Nanyang Technological University.
600 students from 26 institutions are taking part in the event.
RAdm Lui said: "We can't be stiff-necked. We need to be open to ideas
but we have to come to our conclusions through the framework in
Singapore. That's why it is important to have our own deep convictions
and beliefs."
He added that he does not subscribe to the theory that it is a
"medical condition". "Do you excuse paedophiles or psychopaths because
of a medical condition?" RAdm Lui asked.
RAdm Lui said: "To me there are certain norms in society. And before
we make major shift of those norms it is important that we sit and
deliberate, and think through it carefully and move at a pace that
society allows us to move.
"It does not mean that we should not try to reshape the thinking and
so on and so forth, but we can only move at the pace at which society
allows us to move. That's my own personal thoughts about it, and I
don't think... certainly... I am not ready to move and I do not think
a major segment of society is ready to move". - CNA/de

Obsession with anything is unhealthy and may cause tension.

Many of the very same churches that attack two men living together in a
homosexual relationship engage in occult practices that include a debased
form of homosexuality...
Do you really think that they are wealthy and powerful, because they love
and follow Jesus?
They use a form of bait and switch...
They are guilty of an astounding hypocrisy.

Not even 24 hours... That's the longest you can stay without sending
something about homosexuality.
And you dare to pretend that you are not gay...

It's so comical when a homosexual tries to insult someone by calling

self-esteem.

It's so comical when a homosexual tries to insult someone by calling

self-esteem.

Actually, he seems to be calling him a _repressed_ homosexual, and the
criticism isn't about his being gay, but being obsessed and in denial.

Once again, Osprey sides with homophobes, racists and bigots...
Why are you defending him?
Funny that you always attack those who criticize J Young and gaybob...

What ever happened to tollerance and acceptance?

Of course we know that.
But you do realize that some of these "who are religious" like J
Young, gaybob and convict Wentzky -who think they are good christians-
are also the biggest bigots.
Please, cite one racist posting from any of the regular atheist
contributors. One homophonic posting...

Calling a racist "racist" is intolerant?
Calling a homophobe "homophobe" is bigoted?
WTF are you talking about?
Oh, and keep on defending J Young, boob and Wentzky... you demonstrate
quite well that the biggest bigots here are the one who call
themselves "decent" and "good christian"...

Like it or not, little man, you don't get to decide who is what, you
like everyone else get to have an opinion. Yours of course holds
little sway since you are a KNOW intolerant bigot

Please, give an example

No Problem, little man. From your recent post:
"... intolerant bigotry... And, yes, I can decide who's bigoted or
not because, so far, I've never sent one racist posting, one
homophobic posting or one antisemite posting which gives me a certain

Wentzky, Osprey-the-liar, Duke the village idiot or you, the lemming."

No, but the ones who are the greatest pains in the arse typically are.

Did I say they were? I said "the religions which..." which allows for
those which don't.
Take, for example, Wicca; in my exposure to it, it has never condoned or
promoted bigotry; thus there are - as far as I'm aware, at least - some
religions which don't.
I'm sure you had a point there somewhere, but not sure what it was.

Then again, you will never see the abolishment of religions in your life
time or mine anyway.

True; some folks persist in clinging to empty superstition no matter how
untenable a position that is.

As one who strongly believes in God, I call you on your own bigotry and
remind you...

Let he who have not sin, cast the first stone.

Well, that would be me. See, "sin" is a religious concept, and I'm not a
religious man.
Again, I'm sure you had a point there somewhere, but not sure what it was.

Hey, all things we atheists do, too. Little story for you... two,
actually.
Buddy of mine lives in a town where there was a large storm. The storm
knocked down a tree - right into the roof of the local church. The church
members were, on the whole, standing around wailing, while he rounded up
some buddies who cut up the tree, got it out of the way and then they
repaired the roof. What the godders couldn't get off their asses to do,
the atheists did for them - repairing a _church_ for crying out loud.
Same buddy also runs a Thanksgiving turkey dinner every year for the
hungry - i.e. "line up, boys, no charge". He and a pack of rampant
atheists buy the supplies, organize the people, arrange for the hall, do
all the prep work, cooking and cleanup - and they don't even expect you to
sit through a sermon for it. One year some greasy theist type in a suit
shows up - as does the local media, who cover it every year - and he
promptly took credit for the whole blinkin' works.
It's interesting to note that when the theists get involved, there are
almost always strings attached. Free dinner? No problem, but we do
expect you to stay for the sermon. School in your community? No problem,
but we will include Bible readings and the like.
In my experience, most such "good works" by the theists have included such
strings. The problem with that is, it is no longer a good work being done
in the name of doing what's right, it is now a recruiting campaign, and in
many cases inflicted upon those who are in desperate situations and don't
have the resources to tell the theists to go ***** themselves.
You want credit for good works? Fine, kindly list them. List all the
hospitals you folks have built which aren't in some way religious in
nature - no chapel, no enormous crucifix hanging in the lobby, no
references to saints, etc. List all the schools you've built without a
single reference involved to any theistic concept whatsoever - no Bible
readings, no depictions of gods, no "Aren't we Christians wonderful for
building this" airtime.
I'm pretty certain the count will be damn close to zero, because you're
*not* doing "good deeds", you're preying on the weak and defenseless as a
recruitment. The fact some actual help may be given as a byproduct
doesn't change that.
Go on, list 'em.
