............Bush gets ***** about everything from WMD's to Afghanastan to
Iraq
and yet he gets ze-fucking-ro props for no terror attacks since 9/11 ?
Like Bush said to Larry King, "***** em".
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Three of eight "principal players" in an alleged plot
to blow up a tunnel between New York City and New Jersey are in
custody, the FBI said Friday.
FBI Assistant Director Mark Mershon said the plan was "what we believe
was the real deal," a scheme involving al Qaeda members on three
continents.
"They are largely identified, some of them only partially identified,"
Mershon said. None are in the United States or have ever been in the
country, he said.
The only suspect formally charged is a 31-year-old Lebanese man who has
confessed to being the ringleader and has claimed to be an al Qaeda
member loyal to Osama bin Laden, Mershon said.
The scheme was in the planning stages but was about to move into the
execution phase with an attack set for October or November, Mershon
said.

Just wondering, but the FBI is claiming they have a few guys in custody
who never even set foot on US soil?
First off, that would seem a victory for non-US agencies, nothing to do
with Bush's programs. Second, how come the FBI is holding them instead
of the agencies where the persons were residing?
Third, I notice no mention of any evidence aside from "plans to
attack". Did they have plane tickets ready, enough material aranged to
actually blow anything up etc. Or did they arrest people that simply
had some wild ideas that were anti-usa?
I don't judge, but I urge everyone to always be critical of
newsmessages and never take them at face value unless you're very
certain it's true.

The government says the people in custody have not done any surveillance
of the alleged targets nor purchased any materials. Not to mention their
"plan" wouldn't work. Blowing the tunnels won't flood the city. The
"terrorists" apparently believed that if they punched holes in the
tunnels, the water would somehow magically shoot out and flood NY. Never
mind water seeks its own level and NY is above sea level.
Or at least the government is telling us that's what the suspects were...

On the *other hand, "foiling" a "plot" in a chat room is well timed for
the FBI's push to gain sweeping new powers to tap the Internet:

It worked in Chicago <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Flood>. [Yes,
I know that was completely different, but the folks who have been busted
threatening to blow up the Sears Tower or the Hudson tunnels are
amazingly stupid. Who knows what they were thinking or if they were.]
