I've already had county officials say they would not accept my property tax
payments due at the end of July. I am currently being given the
'pariah/leper' treatment by many a 'theist' in the town I live in. I now
have an *inkling* of what it must have been like for a Jew in Germany during
the late '30's, early 40's. In my case, the 'leper' treatment is probably a
combination of a 'Tom Delay-type' Douche Bag flexing his despicable and
depraved criminal 'muscle' *and* an overt hostility to atheists. In any
case, these theists -- and every one of em' claim to be 'Christian' -- are
really showing what immoral and hate-mongering type people they can be.
Disgusting, really.

Get a lawyer (as a witness) and attempt to pay your tax bill with real
greenbacks. It will be their problem if they refuse currency that
clearly states on the front side "This note is legal tender for all
debts, public and private". They can refuse your check without cause
but refusing currency is another matter.

The actions of the disgraceful Clinton and Bush administrations
make it possible for me to say without shame that I deeply regret
the day I put the uniform of my country. The freedoms that I was
willing to protect with my life are gone. The America of our founders
is dead. All we are waiting for now is rigor mortis.

Excellante! (Great Tip!). My problem is that no one (I'm sure.) is going to
drive me the 48 or so miles to get to the County building to do that. But if
I *do* find someone, I'll undoubtedly take your advice.
Bravo.

You could always talk to a car owning Jew who may sympathise with your
plight.
Phone a local synagogue or Rabbi, and work something out with them.

It's funny that you should say that. While I've been enduring the (almost)
pitiless treatment I've been receiving for closing in on two years now, I've
often thought to myself: 'You know what? This is probably a *taste* of what
it would be like if our beloved country *were* to somehow turn theocratic!'.
That is why the plight of those poor Jews who happened to be born at the
wrong time and lived in the wrong place came so readily to mind for me. One
of the greatest difficulties for me in all this is the realization that
these people seem to think they are doing nothing wrong or immoral! (Just
like the 'Christian' SS people who loaded Jews into railroad cattle-cars
destined for Auschwitz.) I guess 'cognitive dissonance' (Thanks, Ben Goren.
*Wherever* you are.) They are as blind as bats in all this. I just can't
understand it. Seeing people act like this is almost 'surreal'. I don't know
how all this is going to play out, but my 'faith' in my fellow man is as low
as gets right now.

Quite an apt comparison, in my humble and somewhat ill-informed
opinion.
In the 70s I talked with a German couple who 'went along' with the
anti-semitic flow during WWII, and were scratching their heads
wondering why on earth they ever participated in such a terrible
thing.
They eventually came to the conclusion that it was part of the 'herd'
mentality, which was drummed into german kinder from birth, and as
such, it came naturally for them to go along with the majority.
I believe that something very similar is happening in Emperor Bush's
fear-driven Theocracy.

Yeah ... and while I agree with you, I don't know that it would be much
better if atheists were calling the shots. (I refer you to the
Communist experiment of the 20th century.)
However, that said, I'd much prefer not to have those ignorant
self-righteous Christian bastards in control of anything affecting my
life.

Yeah ... and while I agree with you, I don't know that it would be much
better if atheists were calling the shots. (I refer you to the
Communist experiment of the 20th century.)

We're not all Lefties... There are many atheists who are pro
Individual Rights and pro capitalism. They are called ~liberals~.
Please don't equate atheism with the Left. I get enough of that
***** from religious types.

Disagree. They're called conservatives. The liberals are the ones like
Bush and his merry band.

Just as not all people who do not play the bassoon are not monolithic
in their political persuasion.
It is the same thing.
Atheism is a LACK of an acquired delusion.

[sigh] Stalin went to Seminary where he would have learned how often
the Church formented and supported agitation and revolution against the
state. He simply slid the State into the 'God' slot.

However, that said, I'd much prefer not to have those ignorant
self-righteous Christian bastards in control of anything affecting my
life.

And if you ask fundies, they say secular liberals control everything.
Neither viewpoint is right. I think we should leave it to the fundies
to develop the martyr complex; that leaves acting rationally to us.

Don't forget sex and what type of medical care we get (e.g. stem cells).
