I just had a image flash through my mind of a old western style
'Wanted' poster with Chung/J Young/SoT's face on it (not that I know
what any of them look like) and the word 'Unwanted' at the top, and a
reward for keeping them away from the rest of us.

"Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy
responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ - to have dominion
in the civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and
godliness. But it is dominion that we are after. Not just a voice. It
is dominion we are after. Not just influence. It is dominion we are
after. Not just equal time. It is dominion we are after. World
conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish. We must
win the world with the power of the Gospel. And we must never settle
for anything less."

When are they going to add filtering by newsgroups? I thought that
was supposed to get into version 4.

Xnews does that, by crossposted NGs. I haven't seen a Chungpost since he
put up that Convict page.

I can do it with composting - but we were supposed to be able to
filter on all headers by now.

Leafnode, my NNTP server software, has a great filters ability based on UNIX
regular expressions.
Not only are all of Chunks posts deleted, but so are the ones posted by the
individual that was trying to slam Chunks.
Works like this:
^Sender: .*Chung*
Bye bye Andy!
Any header can be used as a filter. MaxCrossposts is also set to 3 right now,
that keeps some of the more obnoxious spammers at bay.

Agent's recent filtering by newsgroup is useful. It's not as good as
it should be, and it's not clever enough to check the headers when it
builds up the message list so it filters them when it downloads them.
But it has reduced the number of messages to about a third when you
filter on Chung's groups, wrestling, etc.

How are you filtering on newsgroups? Can we somehow type in
Newsgroups: as a header name in the filter dialog? I tried that and
it doesn't do anything.

You need the latest version of agent.
It's not intuitive and you can't do a single click like you can of
subject or sender
Do something like
newsgroups: alt.rec.sport.pro-wrestling
It won't delete them from its list of messages already downloaded,
which is confusing. But it won't download any more. Which took me a
while to realise.
It doesn't like Oregon newsgroups though - perhaps the "or" needs
quotes round it because of the expression rules, I haven't checked
that.
Cheers....Chris

I'm running the same build you are - 1088.

THAT'S the secret - I made the filter and it seemed to ignore it.
Looking in Usenet filters I see it's in there. We'll see if I get any
more posts from sci.phony.cardiologist.

It obviously extracts a limited amount of data from the headers and
keeps it in a table. I don't know why they didn't modify it to add the
newsgroups into it. Maybe they felt it would make it too big?
Anyway, it appears to scan for it when it downloads the message.
Scanning the full headers in the downloaded message would make it
slower.
But then that's how the much missed rn used to work.

I'm downloading about 10 posts/second (bodies, not headers), so I
wouldn't complain if it slowed down a bit.
