Cahill was Kerry's campaign manager at the time. Cahill's
actions and views are central to what "Kerry" (that is,
Kerry's campaign) was up to.

Sorry, but that still is a change of topic. Did or did not Kerry *out*
Mary Cheney? Not would he have or did he do something else, but did he
out her?

In further news, Matt Silberstein argues on what the definition
of "is" is.

No, we are arguing over what the word "out" means.

The fact that the Kerry campaign was too stupid to
realize that Mary Cheney was already "out" doesn't
change what they were trying to do.

Play your word games, Matt, if it makes you feel better.

Word games? Is that what you call it when a lie is uncovered? Gunner
said out, you defended out, and it just ain't so. She was out for
years before Kerry said a thing.

They tried to out her. She was already out. If you try to shoot
and kill a man sitting in a chair and it turns out that man was
already dead, should I feel safe around you or should I think of
you as a wannabee (though incompetent) murderer?

Your
heroes tried to use someone's sexual orientation as a weapon
while pretending to be the party of tolerance, so I can see how
you'd need every bit of feelgood you can hang on to.

As I have said several times, I was just dealing with the one issue,
the false statement from Gunner.

Because the issue Gunner brought up - the bigotry and
hypocrisy of your heroes - just plain hurts too much for you
to think about.

Play all the games you want, that
will not make the claim correct.

They tried to out someone to people who already knew
the person was gay. You're relying on their incompetence
to excuse their noxious behavior. Isn't that nice?

The fact that the Kerry campaign was too stupid to
realize that Mary Cheney was already "out" doesn't
change what they were trying to do.

I see. So you are now projecting either your and/or Gunner's ignorance
onto the Kerry campaign. Edwards *complimented* Cheney for how he
treated his daughter. It was not an attack on Mary, it was an attack
on how Republicans utilize homophobia in their campaigns. The comment
depended on knowing that Mary Cheney was out, not the other way
around.

Play your word games, Matt, if it makes you feel better.

Word games? Is that what you call it when a lie is uncovered? Gunner
said out, you defended out, and it just ain't so. She was out for
years before Kerry said a thing.

They tried to out her. She was already out.

You have nothing that says they tried to out her. All you have is
your/Gunner's ignorance of the facts. You have Cahill saying her
orientation was "fair game", but it is "fair game" *if* she is already
out.

If you try to shoot
and kill a man sitting in a chair and it turns out that man was
already dead, should I feel safe around you or should I think of
you as a wannabee (though incompetent) murderer?

And if you make stuff up and then try to defend it you are still a
liar.

Your
heroes tried to use someone's sexual orientation as a weapon
while pretending to be the party of tolerance, so I can see how
you'd need every bit of feelgood you can hang on to.

As I have said several times, I was just dealing with the one issue,
the false statement from Gunner.

Because the issue Gunner brought up - the bigotry and
hypocrisy of your heroes - just plain hurts too much for you
to think about.

And now you make stuff up about me. Lying to me about my motivations
is a rather silly game. Sorry, but neither Kerry nor Edwards are my
heroes, so, as they say, that dog won't hunt. I objected because the
statement was false and I happened to notice it. Repeating false
statements and refusing to back them up, or backing them up with
statements that don't, in fact, back them up, pretty quickly becomes
lying. I object to the lies that the Republican party regularly uses
because I find them dangerous for my country.
Nor, as it happens, to I see anything bigoted or hypocritical about
Edwards' or Kerry's statements. The bigotry and hypocrisy comes with
the contrast between the homophobia in the Republican policies and the
personal actions of some of the members of the party.

Play all the games you want, that
will not make the claim correct.

They tried to out someone to people who already knew
the person was gay.

Does that even make lick of sense to you? Why do you make such silly
claims?

You're relying on their incompetence
to excuse their noxious behavior. Isn't that nice?

Actually you are using your claim of their incompetence to defend your
claim of what they did. I figure they are not so bloody stupid as to
out someone known to be out.

I guess between making stuff up (like calling the people in question
my heroes) and making unmarked snips you really don't have time to
make coherent arguments.
To summarize: Mary Cheney was out as a lesbian years before the 2004
election debates. Quite a few references have been provided to support
that claim, nothing has been presented to refute it. You can squirm
and deny and change the subject all you want, that won't make it go
away.

I'll leave my coherent arguments upthread where I first posted

Argument? First, you keep ignoring my explicit statement that I don't
consider the people involved my heroes. Second, you keep making
unmarked dishonest snips. Third, you have ignored all the references
to how Mary Cheney was out long before the election:
USA Today carrying an Associated Press article - well before the
debates - referencing Mary Cheney's open lesbianism, dated 01/10/04.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-01-10-cheney-gaymarriage_x.htm
A Newsweek article from 02/23/04 - before the afore alleged "outing" -
about Mary Cheney, centering on her sexual orientation.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4271472/
Syndicated column by Howard Kurtz, carried here by the Washington Post
(and by dozens of other major newspapers nationally - hence the
'syndicated'), referencing Mary Cheney as gay, from 02/25/04.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A4575-2004Feb25?language=printer
An AP article carried by the San Diego Union-Tribune from 03/02/04 -
again, long before the Presidential debates - referencing Mary Cheney
as a lesbian.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/20040302-1125-cheney.html
Same article, same date, Boston Globe.
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/03/03/cheney_backs_federal_amendment_banning_gay_marriage/
A USA Today article from 08/24/04 referencing Mary Cheney's
homosexuality in the very first sentence.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-08-24-cheney_x.htm
Same article, one day later, carried by MSNBC.com.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5817720
Same article, again one day later, New York Times.

Yes and how many people in American read those magazines? Care to

Nope.
Play your schtick of endlessly demanding more and more cites with
someone else.
If you want to play the game of obtusement by suggesting that someone
can not be out when millions of people (or if your dumb enough to try
to pretend that millions and millions of people don't read thise
publications) read articles about their sexuality, have at it.
Everyone following this thread knows how foolish you are being. Those
who disagree with you politically are undoubtedly amused. Those who
agree with you politically are probably cringing and wishing you'd get
a clue and drop it.
You've been proven wrong. Clearly, you know it. Clearly, you think
that arguing a laughably incorrect point and making yourself look all
the more the fool with each post somehow serves some purpose better
than actually acting like you have a modicum of character and copping
to your error. Or, at least, strategically dropping it so as to avoid
looking so fucking idiotic with each post.
Why don't you do this? Beats me. Maybe you revel in appearing the
*****. Maybe you're just emotionally stunted to the point where you
think that obviously being an ***** is preferable to admitting that
you're human and made an error. Or maybe you're just a dumbfuck.
Hard to tell, precisely.
But you are an amusement in a perverse sort of "I can't help being
fascinated by the car wreck" sort of way.

DESERTBOB (not its real name) is a troll.
It regularly frequents at least twenty news groups,

Normally, it starts off with reasonable, even witty lines,
but rapidly drifts into lies, abuse and stupidity.
Check its details at Google Groups at this URL:

It had 2 Ebay usernames, both banned due to abuse, auction
