Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'
01/15/2008 @ 7:31 am
Filed by David Edwards and Muriel Kane
The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes
mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the
People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks
it's time to put an end to that.
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the
Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I
believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to
change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to
amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to
change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."
When Willie Geist reported Huckabee's opinion on MSNBC's Morning Joe,
co-host Mika Brzezinski was almost speechless, and even Joe Scarborough
couldn't immediately find much to say beyond calling it "interesting,"
Scarborough finally suggested that while he believes "evangelicals
should be able to talk politics ... some might find that statement very
troubling, that we're going to change the Constitution to be in line
with the Bible. And that's all I'm going to say."
Geist further noted of Huckabee that if "someone without his charm,"
said that, "he'd be dismissed as a crackpot, but he's Mike Huckabee and
he's bascially the front-runner."

I'll give 12-to-1 odds that "Fred Stone" votes for Huckabee,
explaining that he's the best man to stop the attacks on
the seperation of church & state.
Why not? It makes as much sense as all of "Fred's" other
spewings....

I don't know. Some of the hard core neocons don't like him because they
say he's too 'liberal'. Imagine that!

"Fred," you completely insane twit, you supported John
Bolton for ambassador to the U.N., specifically citing the
U.N.'s handling of Rwanda (witch you didn't approve of) as
your reasons for it....
....But John Bolton not only could not think of a single
thing he would have done differently, in the case of Rwanda,
but the man stated that he wasn't even sure that there was
anything that anybody could have done!
You endorse throwing people off of healthcare, even openly
complain about "paying" for healthcare for people who can't
afford it, then pretend that national healthcare is bad
because people will be denied healthcare... exactly the way
you want, and already takes place under the present system.
You're the "atheist" who says we shouldn't worry about
Christian dominionists taking over power, even as you
yourself cower in fear of invisible Democrats voting...
In short, "Fred," you're a nut job. You're crazy, "Fred,"
completely insane. You haven't the ability to see your
own enormous contradictions, and your present claims
can't convince anyone (except a psycho like you)
otherwise.
Have a bad day.

You do understand you are betting on the one thing forbidden to be bet
on by federal law. No real reason for saying this except I find it a
interest quirk of law that the Feds have one and only one thing you
are not allowed to wager on: Presidential Elections.

Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the

change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to

Geist further noted of Huckabee that if "someone without his charm,"

he's bascially the front-runner."

Ironically, this is coming from a... um... "man" who
cowers in fear of non-existing voter fraud.
This from a "person" who whined his ***** off about non-existent "theft" of
an election in 2000.

Let me tell *you* differently. I'm not afraid of either. Nice strawman

Funny thing, how ideological commitment can skew perception.
Huckleberry already parlayed the no-chance-in-hell thing into a caucus first place in IA. I
don't attach the same importance to that as do many of the pundits, but it was impressive
nonetheless, considering he did it on what everyone else spent on lunch that day.
If the Repugs were to nominate him -- admittedly a long shot from the perspective of the
present moment -- he'd have more enthusiastic support from Evanjellyculs than even shrub
enjoyed, and I don't see a hate-Hucklebuckle wing in the party to queer the deal for him, the
way either of Romney or Giuliani would face, largely on religious bigotry, or at least
religious not-with-us-so-therefore-agin-us grounds. Similarly, McCain, the one Republican a
fair fraction of right-of-center Democrats would (misguidedly, imo) consider voting for, has
problems with mainstream Repug nativism, and right-to-make-heathens-obey-our-commandments
fervor. So, if it should come to pass that the respective candidates for the Repug nomination
split up the spoils in the primary contests long enough for Hustlebee to coast along in second,
third and fourth place finishes without being snuffed out, he could easily become a contender
at what has usually been the Coronation event, elsewhere known as a convention.
Should he *be* the nominee, by no means an easy bet right now, I think he'd do far better than
any other at pulling all the Repugs and fellow-travelers who helped shrub steal two elections,
win the next one honestly, provided only that war-rage and economic distemper don't create a
Force of Nature election, and that one demographic important to the Democrats feels uninspired
by *their* nominee.
Oh, yeah: Hucklebum won't have big appeal to "independents," aside maybe from those charmed by
his Fair Tax idea. This is easily rendered unimportant if the Democrats also nominate someone
not beloved by those who eschew party affiliation.

chibiabos, Fred can apparently only worry about one group at a
time and thinks everyone else is similarly limited. Thus, his
ridiculous assumption that Geoff must NOT be concerned about
radical Muslims, since he's already concerned about Dominionists,
even though Geoff didn't even refer to Muslims.
Fred is the perfect Republican dupe; just make him afraid of one
group and he'll obey anyone who promises to save him from that
one group, no matter how bad the other group is, because he can
only be afraid of one thing.
