enough, cultures who do not live in flood planes have no record of a

AFAIK at least one (Egyptians) who do live in flood prone areas didn't
have a record of a world-wide flood. In fact they didn't even
mention having lived -through- the world-wide flood.

I only said that the only place you find myths of a world wide flood are flood prone
areas. I never said that every flood prone area has a myth of a world wide flood :-)

My favorite part of this is how they say that the jellyfish were buried by
having tons of sediment dumped on them during a global flood, yet they have
no problem with the idea that this massive avalanche of sediment didn't
destroy the ripple marks in the sand. This is another good example of
creationists picking one fact and ignoring anything that doesn't fit into
their preferred explanation.

WRITTEN RULES OF ATHEISM
1. "I'm right and you are wrong".
[snip list of popular creationist misconceptions]
WRITTEN RULES OF CREATIONISM
"There is not the slightest possibility that the *facts* of science
can contradict the Bible." -- Dr. Henry Morris (Institute for Creation
Research)
"There is no observational fact imaginable which cannot, one way or
another, be made to fit the creation model." -- Dr. Henry Morris
(Institute for Creation Research)
"No geologic difficulties, real or imagined, can be allowed to take
precedence over the clear statements and necessary inferences of
Scripture." -- Dr. Henry Morris (Institute for Creation Research)
"We do not know how the creator created, what processes He used, for
He used processes which are not now operating in the natural universe.
This is why we refer to creation as Special Creation. We cannot
discover by scientific investigation anything about the creative
processes used by the creator. (Duane Gish, Creation Life Publishers,
1979, p. 40.)
"Genesis 1-11 is the actual historical truth, regardless of any
scientific or chronologic problems thereby entailed." -- Dr. Henry M.
Morris, "Remarkable Birth, p. 82.
"...the main reason for insisting on the universal Flood as a fact of
history and as the primary vehicle for geological interpretation is
that God's Word plainly teaches it! No geologic difficulties, real or
imagined, can be allowed to take precedence over the clear statements
and necessary inferences of Scripture." [Henry Morris, Biblical
Cosmology and Modern Science, 1970, p.32-33]
"The only way we can determine the true age of the earth is for God to
tell us what it is. And since He has told us, very plainly, in the
Holy Scriptures that it is several thousand years in age, and no more,
that ought to settle all basic questions of terrestrial chronology.
For those who believe in Creation, therefore, physical processes and
evidence that indicate an immense time scale must be EXPLAINED AWAY.
Only those processes or evidence commensurate with a short (i.e. 6000
years) time scale can be accepted for use in Creationism."
[Dr. H.M. Morris, 1974, "Scientific Creationism", Public School
Edition, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego, p.136)]
"Science has questions that may never be answered.
Creationism has answers that may never be questioned."
"Will you speak falsely for God, and speak deceitfully for him?"

WRITTEN RULES OF ATHEISM
1. "I'm right and you are wrong".
You are quite correct
2. Never admit that you are wrong, even if you really are.
Bit of a hypothetical, 'cos I've never been wrong. See 1.
3. When you have nothing to say, hurl insults.
Pot! Kettle! Shove it.
4. Regard and portray your own violence, whether physical, psychological,
or verbal, at all times as defensive
You started it
4a. Specific example for 4.: Cry for "freedom from religion", but whenever
followers of other faiths want the same freedom and courts agree, scream
"Persecution!"
Followers of other faiths want freedom from religion too? I'm all for
it!
5. Be prepared at all times to lie and bluster, particularly when backed
into a corner in an argument
<blink>
5a. When caught lying, always accuse the opposition of lying rather than
be honest and admit the obvious
I have never lied in a newsgroup. I achieve this by sticking to
insubstantial guff.
6. Never accept responsibility for any mess you have personally caused.
The dog did it
7. When you are forced to admit to an error, regard the whole process of
error and correction as part of atheisms failure for you and not as a
something for which you should apologise retract or make amends except
verbally and secretly to yourself
See 2
8. Always see yourself and you personal actions as part of no ones plans
for the world. Recognise that even your errors are just part of being a
vertabrate monkey out of the premordial slugde
Sludge -> monkey. I think you may have missed a couple of steps out
there. A course in evolution might help clear up your
misunderstanding. Actually, it would take about 20 minutes but you
have to be prepared to listen.
9.Profess humility but avoid the actual experience of it.
If I can think of anything to be humble about, I'll give it a shot.
10.Refuse to take in information that differs from your own view and
oppose all such information through classification of such information in
a derogatory and simplistic manner(eg by categorising it as right wing
propaganda)
Give me some hard facts and I'll take a view on 'em
11.Refuse to accept that truth is not black and white; that reality is
complex and there are shades of grey
Blast! Bang goes my "God either exists or he doesn't" hypothesis.
12.Refuse to forgive anyone else for anything because you have no moral
compass guiding you.
Correct. Just off to commit a few murders in the name of atheism.
Toodle-oo!

As long as the box remains unopened, God both exists and does not exist. If the
box remains closed, theists can assert that God exists. Any attept to
rationally prove that existence must be vigorously rejected, as the attempt
might cause God's quantum state to collapse in to non-existence, which would
make the theists feel silly.

Too funny! So an anti-evolution web site determines through their
"expert detailed analysis" that the paleontologists were wrong. And
what was their politically correct answer? Why, The Worldwide Flood,
of course.
Of course, The Worldwide Flood, while a nice story, is a physical
impossibility, but why quibble over details, eh?

What always amuses me is how creationists always blame a supernatural
flood for things that are far more simply and easily explained by
natural events. Haven't they ever heard of tsunamis?

Sure, didn't you see that Raquel Welch film, _1,000,000 Years BC_ or
something, with the little fur bikini? Plenty of dinosaurs to worry about.
And those paleolithic babes, why, they didn't call the men Erectus for
nothing.
SF films are excellent objective evidence, aren't they? What's that you
say? They aren't? Well, if you are going to go all scientific on us...
