I figured that people bright enough not to buy into the god
***** would be bright enough not to buy into the liberal,
political-correctness that seems to permeate europe and
is worming it's way, insidiously, into America.
I wonder if these people are atheists at all?

You mistake A-theist for A-moral.
Morality does not come from Gods
it is the result of social evolution.
Morals (like any other Memes),
propagate themselves, with the odd mutation.
Mutations that are easy to propagate again will stay.
Mutations that can't propagete will die out.
In general mutations that are beneficial to a society
have better chances of survival.
But if it propagtes quickly enough,
a mutation that is not so blessfull,
might also survive,
it's only benefit being its rapid replication.
One can even predict wich morals are going to survive at lenght.
For as out society becoming a global community.
typical tribal morals. like "ethnic cleansing is good"
don't do as well as they did in ancient times.
Actually a good example of evolving morals, is the bible:)
If you compare 1 Samuel 15 with Matthew 5
It should be clear enough.
Seculare morals don't show so much difference,
but that is mainly because the are only about 200 years old:)

that this is not the right thing to do
