Idiot Jebus Says "Be Nice". La Dee Fucking Dah. |
Nazareth Village Idiot Jesus supposedly preached profound teaching
in his fictional ministry two millennia ago. In reality, he mainly
offered half-assed, dumbed down, fortune cookie platitudes about the
secular issue of how to build a better society. In my view, a huge part
of his simple-minded and unoriginal teachings amounted to saying, "Be
nice" or the tautology "if people were nice then it would be nice". Of
course, jebus was a dumbass theist, so he embellished his message a bit
with additional nonsense like, "Gawd sez, Be Nice, or Gawd will be very
Mean to You." There were, of course other things he taught, but I'd like
to focus on this part of xian ethos, such as it is.
To the extent that this does summarize the ideal, though not often
practiced, doctrine guiding christian behavior, I think it should be
clear that the advice of Jesus is essentially worthless. First of all,
it does not really solve the problem of human evil. Jesus says, if
everyone was nice, then ...well we'd all be nice. The problem is that
people aren't all nice and just telling them to be nice ain't gonna do a
fucking thing. If people were all able to be nice to eachother just by
saying the word then there wouldn't have really been any problem of human
evil to begin with. So jesus neither taught anything of great
importance, nor actually succeeded in solving any problem here.
Then of course there are other issues, like the fact that
"niceness" and "evil" will be evaluated differently by different people
and cultures based upon divergent value systems. Jesus tried to glom on
to bits and pieces of ridiculous and arbitrary Jewish theology. Indeed,
the xian system attributed to him might most appropriately be described
as "Judaism for Dummies". But, the fact that picked and chose a few
absolutist jewish standards and effectively shitcanned the rest, doesn't
show that his system is superior to any other set of equally inflexible
and unjustified set of made up mores. Oh and don't even get me started
on the way that he offered "forgiveness" for breaking even these simplied
rules, so long as you planted a big wet one directly on his puckered
asspipe.
So, there's a lot to think about there and I wanna see what others
have to say. In particular, I'm interested is finding out what, if
anything, xians think their religion contributes to ethics at all.

The problem is that everyone ASSUMES that you agree the teachings of the
Jesus character are worthy of respect. I keep hearing that, and my natural
reaction is "Why?" Turning the other cheek gets you killed. Be nice to your
enemies? I'm sure your enemies will laugh and joke about that as they're
impaling you.
It seems to me that the teachings of the Jesus character are an excellent
recipe for failure.

Failure is good. 'Jesus' was a total failure. Binary logic often fails
in non-binary situations.

Ergo, you're saying that Jesus was "good" ... at being a failure...I
guess I would have to agree that this was about the only way jesus
managed to be "good". Of course, my main point was that for Jesus to
just tell people "be nice" presumed its conclusion since people would
already have to understand and agree upon what "being nice" actually
meant.

Maybe if dookie tries it then we can see how prophetic your prediction
turns out to be. I'm sure that closet-gay dukkke-sucker shoves lots of
things up his ***** and maybe if he pulls his head out of there first then
he won't stab his feeble brain.

It has no brain so there's no space conflict.

It's contributed much to oppression, murder, rape, bigotry, prejudice,
dishonesty, theft, ignorance, paedophelia, slavery, torture,
imprisonment, genocide, and much much more. Christians have lots to be
'proud' of.

Yes, well they did outdo the Jews in that respect, though only by a
little bit when you consider genocidal maniacs like Joshua, after whom
Jesus was named. (That is "Jesus" is really a latinized "Yeshua" or
"Yehoshua" which is transliterated in English as "Joshua") The simple-
mindedness of Christianity probably freed up their minds from the complex
theology of Judaism, and instead allowed them to focus on every
conceivable way to be cruel, petty and based.
