IF RELIGION IS FALSE, THEN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE FALSE. |
How are our atheistic social engineers going to amend the ten
commandments, since they are based on relligion. Thou shalt love the
Lord your God with all your heart, becomes, thou shalt hate the Lord
you God because their is no God anyway. Thou shalt not kill becomes
thou shalt kill, but make sure that you do not get caught. Thou shalt
not coomit adultry becomes, thou shalt have fun, the more outragous
the fun the better, because there is no God any way. Love thy neighbour
as yourself becomes make sure you choose a neighbour who is weaker than
you, because the fittest is the one who will survive. Honour your
parents becomes, damn you parents because they are the cause of all
your problems. Had they taken abit of precaution you wouldn't have had
to go through this miserable life.Are the above amendments acceptable
to the sect or is there something better that objective scientific
research can offer mankind.
When you say you want to scrap God's law, you have to find something
better. Have you got better than "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a
tooth" or do you beleive that Jesus paid the bill and no need to worry.

George Carlin has already done an excellent job of amending the ten
commandments. If I remember correctly he whittled them down to two or three.

The irony is that, in the USA, very often, the more the people are
religious and Christians, the more they are in favor of death
penalty... Look at Dumbya...
How about this commandment: "Thou shall not kill". You know, there
isn't a "but"-clause that says "except when the state says so"...
Very often actually, so-called "atheists" (why do you insist in putting
all of us into one small box?), are opposed to death penalty because
it's useless, immoral and the risk of killing an innocent is too big.

Well, first off, your premise is flawed. There could easily be no god
and yet some of the statements made in the ten commandments could still
be useful rules of thumb. Of course, the ten commandments were far from
original and four of them are completely about religion, so naturally
there are only a few that can really be salvaged. Don't lie, kill or
steal are ok in general, though obviously there are many exceptions where
all of these things might be done for the right reasons.

The so-called ten commandments (which ten? *whose* ten?) are a religious substitute for
civil laws (except for the ones only an idiot could care about, like which gawd is *before*
another.) They're meant to indoctrinate children, who couldn't remember what's allowed and
what's frowned on, unless they can memorize a sort of 'times-table' of rules.
We don't need no steenking commandments, greengo. We have a perfectly serviceable set
of civil laws that work pretty well, and contain crime a lot better than your commandments
contain "sin". We have all we can do, at the moment, to keep them from being contaminated
by sectarian religious pissing fights, and undo that contamination where it has long existed.

You are a confused young man. Atheism is not the opposite of religion.
Maybe you're thinking of Satanism, or the "antichrist", or something.
But doing good in spite of the fact that there's no Skydaddy watching

because without one you'd be out there being an anarchist. You'd be a
