If you find an Atheist in your neighborhood... TELL A PARENT OR PASTOR RIGHT AWAY! |
Have you seen this? - apparently christian kidz aren't supposed to
take on atheists on their own - they are supposed to treat them like
used hypodermic needles.

We had kids from a church in the neighboring town come to our doors to save
us.
They said they were doing it on their own but I saw adults telling them
where to go.
The first couple of times I just told them to go away.
The last time I went crazy yelled at them, told them I was an atheist and
that they were calling during a period when I was normally asleep (so I keep
weird hours.) I also told them that the next time they knocked on my door I
was going to call their pastor at home at a time convenient to me and that
would be at 3:00 AM.
They didn't come back and I've not seen their bus in this town for a while.
Maybe I had something to do with the used hypodermic needle treatment.

Lo, many moons past, on Mon, 05 Jan 2004 22:15:46 GMT, a stranger
called by some "Mike Painter" <mdotpainter@att.net> came forth and
told this tale in alt.atheism
We had kids from a church in the neighboring town come to our doors to save
us.
*snip*
At SiliCon 1989, we found out that our hotel was also the overflow
hotel for a group of fundie Pentecostal youths. Who went completely
nuts while their adult "supervisors" hung out in their rooms.
I've told the story before, here's the link:

I'm more or less convinced it's a parody by now--but it's a very
clever one.
I think they are shooting to see "Lambuel" (Lamb of God = Emmanuel,
plus Christers are sheep? Brilliant!) in actually Christian
homes/churchs/tax-evasion centers. Gosh, think of the coolness points

Yeah, it had me wondering for a while. Has anyone commented on the

I got curious about this site - it's difficult to tell if they are serious
or not. I browsed and found
http://objective.jesussave.us/pastorscorner.html which is a diatribe about
anti-triclavianism (WTF?) which includes the following paragraph of word
salad:
"Some have criticized my stance on triclavianism as being counterproductive,
arguing that making a point of doctrinal contention over not making a point
of doctrinal contention over adiaphora is itself non-salvific. However, my
critics are overlooking the dangers of triclavianistic doctrines: allowing
adiaphora to creep into our credenda -- while possibly pushing the
theologoumenic envelope and providing exciting new opportunities for
supererogative works -- will most often serve to muddy the soteriological
foundation of Faith, leading in general to ultramontane excesses and, in
extreme cases, ebaptization (which is unacceptable pastoral malpractice,
however rare it may be.) Doctrinal integrity, and hence salvific
effectiveness, is best served by working to end triclavianism and similar
erroneous, or simply adiaphoric, doctrines."
Can anyone tell me if this actually makes any sense or is it just a lot of
gibberish?

Yes. it does and it is.
Triclavianism is the belief that only three nails were used to nail what's
his name to the cross.
Apparently the term is real but the site you've hit on is, I believe just an
evil site who's only purpose is to shut Landover Baptist (the only real
church) down.
It's a close call but I give them the nod. (Mainly because the suckered me
with their bear project. They were going to have one for sale in purple but
found out it was the color queers liked so they switched to a rainbow one. I
was going to buy one and them point out the problem with the rainbow after
they got in production. Landover has never fooled me but this one did.)

I kept going back and forth - but the dinosaur hunt page pretty much
outs it as a satire
http://objective.jesussave.us/dinoexpedition.html
Supposedly he finds his dinosaur and one the members of the expedition
turns out to be a 'gasp' evolutionist out to make sure the Christians
don't really find the last surviving dinosaurs.
Never did say what organization the evolutionist is from.
There is even a picture of a blurred dino leg as evidence.

Gosh, it's getting more and more difficult to tell whether or not these
sorts of pages are for real or are parodies of the real thing.
For example, on the parody faith-based initiative joke site
http://www.whitehouse.gov/ask/20031126.html, Jim Towey, White House Deputy
Assistant to the President, and Director, Office of Faith-Based and
Community Initiatives, responds to the question asked by Miller from
Tennessee, "Have you ever witnessed a miracle?"
Jim Towey: "Yes. I have seen many lives transformed by love,
particularly those who work with the poor. I have seen addicts recover,
the homeless find hope in a hard world, and their caregivers discover
that this poor man or poor woman actually has a gift to give them that
they need to discover more fully what life is all about. So there are
miracles every day - except when it comes to my receding hairline!"
Mr. Towey makes an hilariously funny joke (i.e. receding hairline, ha ha
ha), while at the same time managing to feign as though he innocently did
not understand what the miracle question all about. Well done, faith-based
parody website!
http://www.whitehouse.gov/ask/20031126.html
Colby, from Centralia MO writes: "Do you feel that Pagan faith based
groups should be given the same considerations as any other group that
seeks aid?"
Jim Towey: "I haven't run into a pagan faith-based group yet, much less
a pagan group that cares for the poor! Once you make it clear to any
applicant that public money must go to public purposes and can't be used
to promote ideology, the fringe groups lose interest. Helping the poor
is tough work and only those with loving hearts seem drawn to it."
Lol, to think that there are yet four more years to come of faith-based
initiative parody!

Gosh, it's getting more and more difficult to tell whether or not these
sorts of pages are for real or are parodies of the real thing.
Oh - they had me going good. I went in straight to that spot and didn't
see the rest.
I'm sorry - with Jason and Kent Hovind's pages this one really didn't look
any different. That should give them a huge clue just how lame they are.
No problem. I got fooled, too. (Turns out that the other site I mentioned
wasn't a parody but was the real White House web site.)

I love the Mr. Gruff atheist coffee mug.
I like the "Ruby Matrimony Thong"... Very xian. And the Creation Mug with

There's another link later on to Answers in Genesis. The very first
paragraph that attempts to explain the Bombardier Beetle is an argument
from incredulity.

I wonder if there's a Ms Gruff coffee mug. I'd buy one. :)
This has got to be one of the most insipid websites I've ever seen.
It's enough to give children diabetes.
Did you know that Tyranosaurus Rex was an herbivore? His big,
sharp teeth were for shredding plants. No wonder the poor. gentle
dears died out. The humiliation of getting beaten up by those nasty
stegosauruses with those awful tails was just too, too much for them.

ROFLMAO. Its too funny - make it stop.
I keep bouncing back and forth thinking this is real or it is satire.
So much work was put into it. Even the Straight Pride (Show your
pride, get a bride! Got a womb? Get a groom!) ad seems to lead to a
product purchase opportunity.
But it is so goofy. Look at these gems:
Hopsiah the Kanga-Jew exited Noah's Ark 4,000 years ago. But unlike
the other Kangaroos who hopped to Australia [Helloooo?], Hopsiah's
family stayed behind to witness the coming of the Messiah!
Hey, Habu [Indian elephant with third eye]...
How many gods do you have?
Habu says: 'I don't know... I lost count!'
Wouldn't you rather have just one God who loves you a bunch than a
bunch of gods that don't love you at all?
My OBJECTIVE is JUST 4 KIDZ! The "z" is for "zealousness," 'cause
Jesus wants us to be hot for Him, not lukewarm.
And the link to the anti-triclavinist rant - hysterical:
"Some have criticized my stance on triclavianism as being
counterproductive, arguing that making a point of doctrinal contention
over not making a point of doctrinal contention over adiaphora is
itself non-salvific. However, my critics are overlooking the dangers
of triclavianistic doctrines: allowing adiaphora to creep into our
credenda -- while possibly pushing the theologoumenic envelope and
providing exciting new opportunities for supererogative works -- will
most often serve to muddy the soteriological foundation of Faith,
leading in general to ultramontane excesses and, in extreme cases,
ebaptization (which is unacceptable pastoral malpractice, however rare
it may be.) Doctrinal integrity, and hence salvific effectiveness, is
best served by working to end triclavianism and similar erroneous, or
simply adiaphoric, doctrines."
You're killing me, Reverend.

Of course, that's "Christian Love and Compassion(tm)."
