I'm Back!!! |
Being away from you guys for a whole month has been absolute hell.
But I now have a brand spanking new Dell computer with a whole lot
of bells and whistles the Micron didn't have. I'm still learning to
use them, so this will take awhile. And, I'll be using Earthlink for a
couple weeks until my Comcast connection is set up again. I'm hoping
that the messages I had saved under my Comcast address will still be
there. If they are, I'll immediately start posting my regular weekly
messages . If not, I'll have to dig them up again.
Everything on the old computer was lost, thanks to a broken cdrom
drive . Micron tried to replace that drive with another broken one, at
which point I called it quits with them. The C drive was corrupted,
too.
So, wassnoo? Any threads in paticular I should check out? Any news.

very nice, though.

Yeah. I have a cd burner now, so I can save the important stuff, once
I learn how to use it. And, I have a telephony modem, so I'll be able
to use the computer like a telephone. That should be very interesting.

mail' from your mailbox severl times a day...
Oh, and the newserver that Comcast uses won't let you forward posts by mail

Sounds like lovely computer purgatory. Much like when I discovered that no
matter how carefully you move aging computers, you're risking things like
power supplies turning into fireworks displays!
Can't think of any special threads. Just more of the same. In fact, MORE
of the same. We've been having quite the invasion of the very weird,
incomprehensible trolls. Don't have a *clue what that's about. They don't
even appear to be "theists" per se. Just... weird...

I set up my brother's nVidia AMD 2300 last night. Talk about flying.
We had some close to 1 meg (bytes) downloads of pretty large (>10
Megs) files. I'm envious. Now I just have to wait for someone to
make a laptop motherboard like that. (Oh, for the days when we could
wire-wrap our own computer boards.)
Even the fact that the box blew a power supply after about 10 minutes
didn't bring the mood down. :)

But I now have a brand spanking new Dell computer with a whole lot
of bells and whistles the Micron didn't have. I'm still learning to
use them, so this will take awhile. And, I'll be using Earthlink for a
couple weeks until my Comcast connection is set up again. I'm hoping
that the messages I had saved under my Comcast address will still be
there. If they are, I'll immediately start posting my regular weekly
messages . If not, I'll have to dig them up again.
Everything on the old computer was lost, thanks to a broken cdrom
drive . Micron tried to replace that drive with another broken one, at
which point I called it quits with them. The C drive was corrupted,
too.
So, wassnoo? Any threads in paticular I should check out? Any news.
