IMAGINE: American Theocracy |
Imagine a moral God fearing nation. Everything is good and well. We've
exorcised all the demons and burned every witch, homosexual and liberal
with-in our borders. We have a strong pious male patriarch named Jesus,
and the only thing on the horizon is the edge of the earth. I'm doing
great because the only rainbow I see is the one God gave as his
convenient. All the meat is well-done and the fruit I eat comes from
the tree and my herb is yielding seed. "Ahhhhhh.... ", I say with as
grin crawls across my face as I complete my six day work week,
"...Isn't life swell".

Yes, just imagine, the first time you have a minor disagreement with
your neighbor you are denounced as a heretic and hounded for the (very
short) rest of your life. You may not drink, smoke, or eat anything not
approved by The Lord. You can't even *look* at a beautiful woman (or
man) for fear of being accused of "adultery in your heart". Imagine your
daughters being "chosen" to marry a church elder. Imagine the penalty if
you object.

They don't even have to be chosen. The swine will try to seduce them while
they are still virgins.

Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the
Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.
Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an
utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life
forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches
are a pretty neat idea.

Atheists aren't gulliable. Did you miss the one about the guy suing
David Copperfield claiming that he stole the guy's god powers? With so
many theists like that it's no wonder if some of us miss a parody now
and then.

Every Christian, of whom I'm familiar, at least -desires- everyone in
the world to become a Christian. I have to wonder, if God WAS to grant
every Christian's wish, what would the world be like?
