Object: Impending Catholic schism?
I've read reports of disagreements on who will succeed John Paul II. I was
discussing this with a friend, and we both agreed that this might cause a
huge split in the Catholic church. What do you think?

It's unlikely there's going to be some one radical who does something
like....endorse the use of condoms (pathetic that that would be radical
really)

That would truly be radical as it's against what God has given us.

No, "god" sent us condoms. Just as "he" sent us the feeding tube, as you
said about the Terri Schiavo case.

No, can't. Those stand in opposition to that which God did give us.

Earl would have said the same thing about touching the host or meat on
Friday when it was forbidden.
The RCC has an explanation that would allow birth control in marriage. It
will be allowed sooner than later.
This and allowing all priests to marry (some places they can) would bring a
lot of catholics back here and even in Europe.

As far as I know, those really were man made regulations.

The RCC has an explanation that would allow birth control in marriage. It

Birth control is already allowed. It's called abstinence during fertility
periods.

This and allowing all priests to marry (some places they can) would bring a

Abstinence is no more birth control than starvation is weight control.

Which means that man can damn somebody to hell according to their whims.
Birth control is based on onanism and I don't see people going to hell for
not marrying their dead brothers wife. It's also OT and you have said that
there is a new covenant. (Not that they agree with you but you should try to
be consistent.)

Birth control is already allowed. It's called abstinence during

Actually Onanism is allowed also.

Yeah, but your timing was off on the Pope's death by almost 20 hours.

In a life of over 80 years that is pretty good accuracy.

I seriously doubt it. While I do think there may be an impending
schism, it won't be over the pope's successor, at least not directly.
There have been rumblings from American Catholics about breaking off and
forming their own sect under the Archbishop of New York, like the CoE
and Canterbury. If they decide to do that, it may be because of an
impolitic pope but he'd have to do something to rile them up, something
more active than just being elected.
