Teaching science is back on the classroom agenda, and along with it comes the debate
over teaching the theory of evolution.
Scientists say it is not the kind of argument Arizona should be engaging in if it
wants to attract national attention as a hub of biotechnology research.

I just remember how funny it was when the secretary of education
for Arizona made the statement that he thought that they should take
globes out of the classroom because it conflicted with some Arizona
citizens religious beliefs (He didn't like evolution either). I think the
guy was canned before his boss Gov. Mecham? was forced from
office. It got to be a zoo during that administration in the late 1980's.
Isn't it funny that they always claim that there is a scientific theory
of intelligent design, but they never put it forward for the standards
or any lesson plans? They want the science standards to be vague.
It is the only way that ignorance can be maintained at the level that
the creationist require.
