In the News: D. James Kennedy Sees 'Wall of Evolution' Eventually Tumbling Down |
From the article:
------------------------------------
By Allie Martin
February 1, 2005
(AgapePress) - The founder of the Center for Reclaiming America says although
the theory of evolution has influenced virtually every school district
worldwide, there are signs that its influence is waning.
Dr. D. James Kennedy says the recent announcement by renowned philosophical
atheist Dr. Anthony Flue that he now believes in a "creator" poses a major
problem for evolutionists. Kennedy, addressing hundreds of people at the
"Defending the Faith" conference in Fort Lauderdale this week, said there is a
heightened interest in creationism. And evolution, he stated, is losing favor
with many people as scientists cannot explain the complexity of the human body.
"We are fearfully and wonderfully made -- and that's what Anthony Flue
discovered," Kennedy said. "And that's what is the crack in the Jericho wall of
naturalistic evolution. I'm sure some of us will be around when the walls come
tumbling down."
It is Kennedy's opinion that Christians who embrace evolution are compromising
their faith. He describes evolution as the most destructive idea ever to enter
the mind of man, and a concept that has killed more people than all religions
that ever existed.

Also from the article:
------------------------------------------------
"Communistic evolution, according to the Senate committee that
examined it, is responsible for 135 million deaths in peacetime," he
[D. James Kennedy] said. "There's no religion that has a tiny fraction
of that many deaths on it conscience." And it is amazing, he added,
that evolution -- despite its widespread acceptance -- has no
scientific basis. "There are scientists who will admit that there's
not one iota of scientific evidence to support it."
-----------------------------------------------
Any idea what "senate committee" he is talking about? And what is
"communistic evolution"? Lysenkoism? Does Kennedy just pull this
stuff out of his *****?

Ha ha, it is to laugh. McCarthy's evil grew out of a similar
poisoned atmosphere. I mean, can you imagine nearly unanimous
calls to fire a tenured professor because of _political speech_?
From a government institution?
The conventional wisdom is, apparently, that the US 1st amendment
doesn't apply to political speech or to government retaliation.

Actually, not that long ago, Matt Salmon (spit) (R-Arizona), pushed
through a resolution condeming a scientific article published in
Psychological Bulletin about college age survivors of sexual abuse. Why
was it condemned? Laura Schlessinger (spit) decided it was a bad paper
because it gave the hopeful note that people are not damaged by
child-adult sexual contact to the degree presumed and promulgated by
clinicians. Hence, it was 'supporting pedophilia'. Strangely, it also
cited earlier research that found the same result.
It also had the gall to propose, in a scientific paper, that lumping all
forms of such abuse into one categlory isn't helpful in applying
scientific methods to understanding the outcome. The authors noted that
being 'flashed' in a library or on the way to school is entirely different
than being violently raped by a trusted family member. (Gee, ya think?)
For this it was condemned. And the AmericanPsycholA, of course, rolled
over, being mostly clinicians.
Yes, and sadly, amend. 1 is pretty meaningless at times.

Have you ever looked at overweight men? Some of them have breasts
rather larger than those of most women.
Now how about the number of testicles, though?
There is a rare condition in which some men grow three testicles.
Others only have one or even none, either from birth or as the result
of an accident.
I wonder if the excess of former outweighs the deficiencies of the
latter?

Flew, not "Flue." And Flew has recanted, pointing out that he

It is Kennedy's opinion that Christians who embrace evolution are compromising
their faith. He describes evolution as the most destructive idea ever to enter
the mind of man, and a concept that has killed more people than all religions
I've heard Kennedy's lectures on evolution. If one goes to Hell
for lying, Kennedy's headed in that direction.

I agree. It's one of those cases where he so consistently mis-states the
TOE, he's either a liar or an idiot. And he doesn't seem to be an idiot.

If I were that dishonest I could probably be that much of an "idiot"
too. All the way to the bank.

he stated, is losing favor with many people as scientists cannot explain
the complexity of the human body.

Does "every school district worldwide" equal "America", given that most
education systems do not have independent school districts in the
western world, and no such structure at all exists in most third world
countries?
And is Anthony Flue the famous atheist chimney cleaner?

Tne guy is actually "Anthony Flew," and he has denied time and again
that he believes in any kind of creator, let alone a god. Fundies, as
usual, mangle the information and then run with it; facts be damned.
