In the News: Decision today on creationism |
From the article:
-----------------------------------
Associated Press
DARBY - The Darby school board has postponed until Wednesday its
decision on whether to include the discussion of creationism in
science classes.
Trustees were expected to vote on the proposal Monday night, but
delayed the vote so they could get additional comment from attorneys.
The proposed science curriculum calls for students to "assess evidence
for and against theories" in science class, but the only theory named
is evolutionary theory. It also encourages teachers to "give examples
of scientific innovation or discovery challenging commonly held
perceptions."

I think science curricula everywhere should always include all of the
***scientific*** evidence for creationism.
Be a damned short class.

It already does. It's taught on the day between Tuesday and
Wednesday.

Yes, but the advantage is that it would be an easy test:
Q: What is the origin of the species?
a. God Did It
b. Darwin's stupid ideas "explain" it but they are only a theory
c. An invisible pink unicorn
d. Satan

Not only that I think reciprocity is only fair. Science gets to say
any story of magic and miracles is a lie and then entire bible gets to
be introduced into evidence as garbage.

I'd say we should be able to teach science and comparative religions during
church services and Sunday schools.
Or just read and compare the parts of the bible they skip past.

"You haven't seen hundreds of parents descending on the school board
concerned over the fact that, according to test scores reported by the
state Office of Public Instruction, 33 percent of Darby's
eighth-graders last year couldn't read proficiently. Or that 15
percent of last year's juniors read at the "novice" level. Or that,
while 12 percent of fourth-graders earned "advanced" math scores, 21
percent scored below the "proficient" level."
So they can't read, they can't figure and now the powers that be want
them to not know biology.
And these kids will do what when they graduate? "Do you want fries
with that?"
