From the article:
----------------------------------
HARRISBURG, Pa. - High school students heard about "intelligent design" for the
first time Tuesday in a school district that attracted national attention by
requiring students to be made aware of it as an alternative to the theory of
evolution.
Administrators in the Dover Area School District read a statement to three
biology classes Tuesday and were expected to read it to other classes on
Wednesday, according to a statement from the Thomas More Law Center in Ann
Arbor, Mich., which was speaking on the district's behalf.. . .
.. . .Biology teacher Jennifer Miller said although she was able to make a smooth
transition to her evolution lesson after the statement was read, some students
were upset that administrators would not entertain any questions about
intelligent design.
"They were told that if you have any questions, to take it home," Miller said.

So much for the "critical analysis" of ID.

So much for the "critical analysis" of ID.

Critical analysis of IDC belongs in the religious education classes.

I would dearly love to see the lesson plan associated with a series of
lectures on the topic of "Intelligent Design Theory."
When a student asks "What is the theory?", how would the instructor
answer?

We never did see one presented on this newsgroup, did we?

When a student asks "What is the theory?", how would the instructor
answer?

"Go read _Of Pandas And People_."
<sigh> It just warms my heart to see my home state getting so much world-
wide attention.

Can I warm You all there just a little more ?
Your state and Dover is mentioned even on the other side of globe on
distant Nothern Finland's newspaper Kaleva:
http://www.kaleva.fi/html/JTpage451556.html
"...Ryhmä lukiolaisten vanhempia haastoi pennsylvanialaisen Doverin
koulupiirin oikeuteen joulukuun alussa sen jälkeen.."
(engl transl.would be approx="Group of parents of high shool students
sued Dover district in Pennsylvania in the beginning of December
after...")
Headline translation would be "Dispute about creationism in USA"

When it's the theory of evolution, it means "guess" - when it's
Intelligent Design, it means "this is what actually happened".

So they present ID as a scientific theory? That's a laugh.

They should have left have left it all at home or in the churches.

Cowardice. Complete, utter, DESPICABLE cowardice!
What are they afraid of? That maybe some students will ask some awkward
questions like "What is the theory of intelligent design?" or "What
testable predictions, distinct from those made by conventional biology,
does intelligent design make?"

An *honest* Sticker:
"Be critical, but not so critical you ask us any hard questions. Just
ask stupid questions of the science teachers and waste their time so you
won't learn any actual science and you'll be easier to confuse and
involve in our political control over the ways people live their lives.
And send us money because despite the overwhelming numerical majority we
have in your community, we are actually a persecuted minority hard up
against the miniscule atheist secular humanist majority. See the sticker
in your mathematics textbook for details."
