From the article:
-------------------------------
HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) -- A state House bill would require that middle
and high school students who study evolution also be taught
creationism, the belief that God designed life on earth, under a state
House bill.
Republican State Reps. Bill Van Regenmorter of Georgetown Township and
Barb Vander Veen of Allendale are co-sponsors of the bill.
The legislation introduced this month says science teachers should
tell their students that evolution and natural selection are "unproven
theories."

By singling out Darwin's theory and the "Law" of natural selection, they
are condemned to lose in court. Had they just said that all theories
including Bohr's atomic theory and Einstein's theory are yet to be proven,
the court could have no objection. That of course would muddy their own
waters a bit though.

I'd love to see Americans start teaching creation to their children in state
schools. It would be worth a good laugh.

The binary-thinking morons think that making no mention of it at all
is the same as teaching that it doesn't exist.
And of course if they didn't bring it up nobody else would either.

That's a misrepresentation of Creationism. They never said "Science" is a
lie, just the theory of evolution.

2. Everything was created 6,000 years ago.

Not all of them believe the earth was created 6,000 years ago.

Well, the majority does.

I think this is changing as ID is becoming a more
prevalent strategy. Additionally some creationists
are starting to see stuff like the Big Bang and fine-
tuning of the universe as supportive of their belief
systems. For example, this is found in Stephen
Meyers "return of the god hypothesis", available
on the web, and Chuck Colson's _how now shall
we live_, which recapitulates Meyers' argument.
This is unsurprising because Nancy Pearcey is
the co-author of this book.

Robert, I asked you what your opinion on the age of the earth is. You
evaded the question and claimed that different methods give different
ages. I asked you for examples of such methods - do you plan to ever
answer this question?

Creationist science 101:

1. Everything in science is a lie/wrong/EAC.

That's a misrepresentation of Creationism. They never said "Science" is a
lie, just the theory of evolution.

Well, let's take a look, shall we . . . . . . . ?
If the young-earth creationists are right, then:
all of cosmology is wrong, since the Big Bang never happened
all of archeology is wrong, since nothing happened more than 6,000
years ago
all of geology is wrong, since all geological strata come from the
Flood
all of nuclear physics is wrong, since radiodecay rates are not
constant over time
all of quantum physics is wrong, since the speed of light is not
constant
all of molecular biology is wrong, since similarities in DNA are all
meaningless
all of organic chemistry is wrong, since biomolecules cannot really
form on
their own through chemical methods
all of linguistics is wrong, sicne languages really come from the
Tower of Babel
all of anthropology is wrong, since human culture all developed in the
Middle east
Would you mind pointing out to me which parts of science creationists
accept as correct . . . .?

2. Everything was created 6,000 years ago.

Not all of them believe the earth was created 6,000 years ago.

Right. Many of them have given that claim up, since everyone else has
concluded that it's stupid.
But then, most of those who do not believe the earth was created 6,000
years ago are "intelligent design theorists" --- and they DO NOT
REJECT EVOLUTION either. In fact, their entire idea of "intelligent
design" is nothing more than 'evolution with a designer tinkering here
and there in some obscure molecules that most people have never even
heard of".
There are of course a small number of old-earth creationists a la Hugh
Ross who do reject evolution and don't think the earth is 6,000 years
old. of course, Ross also believes that flying saucers come from the
devil. <shrug>
Note that neither young-earth creationists, old-earth creationists, or
intelligent design 'theorists' have any sort of scientific theory to
present whcih can be tested using the scientific method. All any of
them have is their religious opinions, and a desire to use the power
of the law to force those religious opinions onto others, whether
those others like it or not.
If I recall correctly, we just invaded and overthrew a bunch of people
in Afghanistan who thought pretty much the same way. . . . . . . .

Young earth creationism is inconsistent with geology, paleontology,
astronomy, cosmology, nuclear physics, chemistry, biology.
Those are just the ones that I can think of, off the top of my head.
It may be consistent with stamp collecting. I don't know I haven't
investiagted this one.

True, but this is the stance of most biblical literalists. There are
even more extremes, such as flat earthers, and less extremes who call
themselves creationists for reasons best known to themselves, but are
otherwsie quite normal people.

Nuh-uh. Some stamps have pictures of non-Biblical animals and
Darwin and stuff on 'em. ;-)

The legislation introduced this month says science teachers should
tell their students that evolution and natural selection are "unproven
theories."

Creationist science 101:

1. Everything in science is a lie/wrong/EAC.
2. Everything was created 6,000 years ago.

End of creation science 101.

For your end of term exam, please write a 10,000 word essay
summarising the above.

To be more accurate, I think you need to _quote_ a 10,000 word essay
which summarizes the above....

Which is an integral part of science.
And of course they're too stupid to realise that the theory of
evolution is the explanation for the facts that were labelled
"Evolution".
Quite frankly, creationists are either idiots or liars, and often
both.
