Inmate says he needs Thor’s hammer, drum
Items essential for Utah convict’s Nordic religion, lawsuit contends
updated 6:59 p.m. ET Dec. 21, 2007
SALT LAKE CITY -{AP} An inmate is suing the Utah Department of
Corrections for denying him his right to practice an ancient Nordic
religion while behind bars.
Michael Polk is serving time for aggravated assault and robbery. He
filed a lawsuit against corrections officials in federal court,
accusing them of denying him religious items that he says are
necessary to practice the Asatru religion.
The religion worships ancient Nordic gods, such as Odin, Thor, Tyr and
Heimdal.
In the lawsuit, Polk says he has been a member of the Asatru faith
since 2005, and in order to properly practice it he needs items that
include: a Thor's hammer, a prayer cloth, a horn used for drinking
Wassail, a drum made of wood and boar skin, a rune staff and a sword.

Somehow methinks Mr Polk will not get that sword under any

Anyway, while I find that demand exaggerated, it's a nice contrast (almost a
fitting parody) to all that hyped-up jebus cult "freedom of relijien" crap.

If they believe in 'freedom of expression' then it should apply to all
religions or none. Although I'm sure that there would be a lot of
discussion about a religion that practiced human sacrifice of unwilling
victims.

Looking at the history of the jebus death cult, I'm afraid you're wrong.
At least there ain't nearly enough discussion today.

True, but they disguise the 'sacrifices' under the names of war,

OMB! I last used a pair of them in an oscilliscope that I repaired
back in ~1972.
Hopeless leaky buggers, and physically huge.
Mmmm.. that reminds me of someone.
(And somewhat curiously, quite "smelly")
....again.
Replaced them with two 1N4007s, about a 1/100th the size, and far more
efficient.
Do they still use selenium rectifiers any more (apart from vintage
restorations)?
