Insane Christian airline pilot threatens non-Christian passengers |
Christian question alarms flight
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3472265.stm
An American Airlines pilot terrified passengers on his flight when he
asked Christians to identify themselves and went on to call non-Christians
"crazy".
Some passengers on the flight from Los Angeles to New York were so
worried they tried to call relatives on their mobile phones.
The pilot, whose name was not released, asked Christians on Friday's
flight to raise their hands.
He then suggested non-Christians talk to the Christians about their
faith.
He went on to say that "everyone who doesn't have their hand raised
is
crazy", passenger Amanda Nelligan told CBS news.
"He continued to say, 'Well, you have a choice: you can make this
trip
worthwhile, or you can sit back, read a book and watch the movie'," she
said.
The pilot also told passengers he would be available for discussion
at
the end of the flight.
'Bizarre'
Ms Nelligan said passengers had thought the pilot's behaviour was
"bizarre" and wondered whether his comments were a threat.
Flight attendants notified ground control.
American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner said the incident was being
investigated.
"It falls along the lines of a personal level of sharing that may not
be appropriate for one of our employees to do while on the job," he added.

As thee knows, George, I am quite a religious person, but that pilot
would have scared the ***** out of me. I think he's nuts. He's on
suspension--perhaps early retirement would be a good idea.
When I'm 35,000 ft. in the air, I want the pilot to *pilot*. I'll
handle the prayers myself.

As I've probably mentioned at one time or three I was a Private pilot,
done three 'parachute descents'(for them as know of these things I was
jumping 'rags' for the whoofos take my word for it)
It's not the fall as bothers me but rather the sudden stop at the
bottom :-))
I'm amused at the athiest claim he made though Liz..
how much farther can one get from the truth

Had I been on the plane, I would have started screaming about the last time a religious nutter was at the wheel
of a jet, and demand to get off the plane IMMEDIATELY.
If anyone tried to arrest me for "creating a scene", I would credit Ashcroft and Coulter for creating a culture
of panic to which, sadly, I had succumbed.

I would have gone one further and identified myself as a pilot to any
passengers nearby and given my opinion that the pilot's behaviour was
unacceptable, way, way, *way*, against company policy and possibly
indicative of some mental problem. And I would have demanded to be let off
the plane along with anyone else who took my warning seriously. If they
refused, I would have called Flight Service and 911 told them what was going
on. At the very least, the flight would be delayed. At most there would be
lots of flashing lights and sirens. That plane would never get off the
ground with that guy at the helm.
In reality, he was probably OK to fly. And he probably didn't know that he
was frightening people. But he was.
Anyone finding themselves in a similar situation can just call 911.
