"Bottom", actually, not "*****" specifically.
Middle English, from Old French 'fondement', from Latin 'fundamentum',
from 'fundare', to found, from 'fundus', base. The use of 'fundament'
for the butt comes out of the 15th century.
Side note, the Latin word '*****' means "ring." It is related to the
Latin word "annus", year or cycle, and "*****" (imagine a macron over the
u), "old woman." Which only shows that the Romans knew full well (as a
friend in my Latin class many years ago joked) that mothers-in-law are a
chronic pain in the *****.

Soon after Creation, all the parts of the body held a conference to decide which would be
the chief part. Every part spoke up.
"I should be the chief," said the brain. "I'm the main control center, after all."
"But without me, no one would be fed," said the stomach.
"We open up the world," said the eyes in chorus.
"Nothing would get done without us," said the hands.
"And you wouldn't get anywhere but for us," said the legs.
And soon, all the body was in chaos, arguing over who would be the boss.
Then, the rectum spoke up. "You?!", everyone else cried. In an instant, the arguing was
forgotten in laughs and jeers. The rectum? Absurd! Impossible! Ridiculus! In shame and
humiliation, the rectum went on strike.
Before too long, the brain was too fogged to function properly, the stomach was backed up,
the eyes were crossed, the hands trembled... every part of the body was completely unable
to do anything. So, by unanimous decision, all the parts of the body named the rectum to
be the Chief Part.
Moral: You don't need brains or vision or resources or action or mobility to be the boss.
The only requirement is that you be an ***** hole.
