They say that in the good times, when the market was riding high, Yang
Bai Wan would measure his money with a ruler, rather than bothering to
count the stuff. This infamous Shanghai stock speculator made a
fortune as a cocktail of hot money from overseas and frenzied betting
among the new class of wannabe capitalists sent scores of newly listed
shares on the Shanghai stock exchange to somewhere in the vicinity of
the moon.
