Iraq sparks salvo at ministers’ debate

In the end, it wasn't gay marriage or abortion that set off sparks at
yesterday's debate between two prominent evangelicals. Instead it was the
Iraq war.
The brief but intense episode was the only incident in what was generally a
civil exchange of ideas between the Rev. Russell Johnson, Fairfield
Christian Church pastor and founder of the conservative Ohio Restoration
Project, and the Rev. Jim Wallis, author and founder of Sojourners, a
progressive Christian network.

Wallis said he believes in the separation of church and state, but not in
“the segregation of moral values from public life or the banishing of
religious language in the public square.”
