Who else but the beloved pontiff travels in the name of peace? Only the
Catholic Church can speak for those who are silenced because all the world
loves and respects His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. No other leader of any
nation or religious creed holds the credibility he does.

Vatican City, Nov. 10 - Iraqi President Jalal Talabani met with
Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday and pledged to guarantee the rights of
religious minorities amid concern that Iraq's proposed constitution
institutionalizes Islamic law.
"I explained to his holiness that the Iraqi constitution will
consider all Iraqis -- Christians included -- equal and will respect all
religions," Talabani said at a news conference after the meeting.

The Dali Lama comes to mind. This may surprise you, but the Catholic
Church is not the only show in town.

True, but the Dali Lama has lost a great deal of credibility amongst his own
followers with the whole issue of Tibet; such a situation doesn't exist for
the Holy See.

You must be joking if you think that the Pope hasn't lost credibility
over the centuries among Catholics.
How many of them do everything the popes have told them to do? Let's
see... do Catholics engage in premarital sex? Sure, lots of 'em.
Abortions? Yup. Divorces? You bet.
What kind of leadership is it that doesn't actually lead? Oh, yeah:
that of a figurehead, like the royal family of England.

Well, I do.
When I get around to travelling, that is.
My last trip was to Morocco and Spain, and it was definitely in the
name of peace. Oh, and tajine. And harira. And wine. And sherry.

I guess that makes it difficult for you...whether you'll spend
eternity licking this guy's feet, or John Paul II.
