Dear denizens of alt.atheism,
Please allow me to direct your attention to
http://wiki.ironchariots.org/ :
"And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the
mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley,
because they had chariots of iron."
-- Judges 1:19
For Christian apologists, the Bible is the word of God and serves as
the foundation for most of their arguments. While believers hold
differing opinions on proper exegetic practices, most believers assert
that the Bible is generally accurate and reliable in theme and history.
Examining that passage from Judges, we see a clear message: the god
described in those passages was powerful, but not powerful enough to
defeat an army with Iron Chariots. If the apologists are to be
believed, then we have a solid example of something more powerful than
their god.
IronChariots.org is a counter-apologetics wiki which is being developed
as a one stop location for responses to every apologist argument and
publication ever invented. We are convinced that logic, reason,
skepticism, critical thought, and scientific investigation are the
modern equivalent of Iron Chariots. No god hypotheses or supernatural
claims have been able to withstand even casual examination.
If you are, like many regulars at alt.atheism, a prolific writer on
topics about science, philosophy, and skeptical arguments, then we need
your help! The wiki is a few months old and still in a growth phase.
Even if you don't consider yourself an excellent author, there are
plenty of other ways in which you can help.
1. Promotion. The best way to generate writers is to generate readers.
If you like the work that is being done at Iron Chariots, please pass
this request on to your atheist friends and encourage your favorite
bloggers to mention us. If you find a particularly good article within
Iron Chariots, we encourage you to link that article in relevant
discussions. The more eyes we get on the pages, the better they will
become.
2. Copy editing. Not everyone has to write original material; anyone
can jump in to correct a minor typo or major grammatical blunder.
3. Artistic improvement. We would like to see more pages illustrated,
either with appropriate images grabbed from the web, or original
artwork done.
4. Wiki experience. The founders of IC are mostly novices at Wikipedia
editing and have benefitted greatly from style contributions and
template development by new members.
5. Feedback. We have the beginning of a thriving message board
community at http://forum.ironchariots.org/ . If you see an article
that you think needs development, but don't feel up to the task of
writing it yourself, add your comments or post some relevant links.
Hope to see a lot of new faces (and user IDs) soon!
Sincerely,
Russell Glasser
(founding member of Iron Chariots)
