For the record: wars are between nations. No nation was responsible
for 9/11. Therefore 9/11 was a crime, not an act of war. This simple
observation, oddly, seems to enrage a lot of people.
So any revolutionary war isn't a real war? Get with the program

Now, the nation that sheltered the criminal responsible for planning
the 9/11 crime refused to turn him over, and in fact was known to
shelter him and others like him. The world agreed this constituted
casus belli. The entirely justifiable, if incompetently prosecuted,
Afghanistan war was the result.

But the attack on the Cole, the hijackings of 9/11, and the anthrax
mail poisonings were crimes, not acts of war.

The attack on the Cole was an attack on a US Navy vessel and her
personnel. It was carried out by a well trained and well armed enemy
with no motivation except to stage a raid against their enemies...Us.
