Where do moral rules come from? From reason? From God? Some suggest
morality can be found buried deep in evolution.

If only my fellow atheists and Christians of noble hearts and minds could
just see how cruelly, inhumanely and sadistically I'm being treated by the
'love thy neighbor as thyself' and 'Do unto others as you would have them do
unto you', evil and immoral 'Christian' crowd out my way; you all would have
a hard time lifting your jaws off the ground!
You hate to think how they'd act if they *weren't' such Jesus-loving,
God-believing 'Christians'.
And *completely* clueless as to just how depraved and immoral their actions
are. Not a clue as to what hypocrites they are.
What a *bizarre* mind-set these people possess. It's downright scary. And to
be soooo easily manipulated -- double scary. It is the *strangest* damn
psychological phenomenon I've ever come across -- and one of the most
dangerous.

Your case is on object lesson that while altruism may well be innate,
Christianity is certainly able to displace it with viciousness to an
extreme level.

It's also an object lesson as to what atheists positioned in so vulnerable

No, let me rephrase that; these are otherwise 'normal, decent, individuals

Hell for my unbelief or anything of the sort; it's your every-day small-town

corrupt individual with the morals and ethics of a hyena and his underlings
have so easily, so successfully, manipulated these otherwise 'honorable'
area Christians to behave so abominably and so amazingly counter to their
religious principles and faith that should concern *all* freethinkers to the

Michael, you're one of the few who has a sense of the real 'flavor' behind

But I've got to learn to quit with the 'in your face' approach I've been

my approach has been nothing but counterproductive. I can't afford to 'turn

Let me end this message with what *will* put an end to my suffering out
here. And that's for the Democrats in my 8th Congressional District (with
perhaps some help from the Party of Democrats at-large) to stand tall and do
something about Daniel J. Miron and the corrupt people tied to him
(including 'Democrats'!). To do nothing is to condone what's been done --
and *continues* to be done -- to me out here. They've got to put their foot
down if they're counting on any kind of credibility. Otherwise what the past
election has done is simply exchange one group of corrupt politicians for
another. I assume the position that what is being done to *this* atheist is
what the religious right and its 'allies' would like to do to *all*
freethinkers. To put us in our 'place'. In a sense, Michael, the

Germany. And that is NO exaggeration!

Exactly my point: so-called 'moderate' Xtians are just as culpable of
the crimes committed by their fellow tribe members as if they had done
the dirty deeds with their own hands.
And I most definitely include amongst the guilty parties, those who
actively choose to be ignorant of said deeds.
That and the fact that an unimaginarily

That is precisely what the Christian Churches were established for!
Note that I am talking about *churches*, and the social hierarchy
thereby engendered, not the religious beliefs themselves, which are in
most cases wholly contradictory.

I understand that.

reserving your ammunition for when its use will be effective.

Where do moral rules come from? From reason? From God? Some suggest
morality can be found buried deep in evolution.
Humans need moral guidance or a moral conscience since they have a
'free will' of sorts.
Actually it is like this.
We are free to do what we want -- but are not free to want what we
want.
All our actions have consequences, and many of our actions produce
consequences that end up destroying peace. (both ours and other's
peace).
This is what separates us from the animals that run solely on
instinct.
Humans run by instinct as well as moral guidance.
Whether this moral conscience in divinely inspired or from Nature I
don't know - that is why I am an agnostic.
But If I had to guess I would lean towards the atheistic view of
Nature based, since I have not found any evidence of a God such as the
monotheists claim.
.....my discussion of this topic from an earlier post.
