Object: Is Foley really a drunk?
Having gotten caught soliciting young boys, Congressman Foley swiftly
checked into rehab for alcoholism. He might be faking. Is there a way to
know whether someone is an alcoholic other than taking his word for it?

Yes. Long term alcohol abuse leaves damage to the liver.

Yes. Long term alcohol abuse leaves damage to the liver.

It'll also show up in blood work as well, i.e., high triglycerides.

Ah. So all one need to is approach him, tackle him to the ground, and take
a biopsy sample right there on the spot. Ya don't think there might be some
objections to examining his liver? I think even getting his current medical
records might be a problem.

Yeah, but if you go into rehab, don't they give you a full physical, blood
work, etc.? Medical records have been leaked before...............

Actions over time. However, there's nothing saying Foley can't be a
paedophile as well as an alkie. IMO, it's smoke and mirrors.

also a way of avoiding the press.

That was my first thought but drinkers get very good at hiding their
drinking and I have a very hard time telling if a friend has been drinking
(a bottle of gin or so a day), even though others can spot it instantly.

Well, actually, not to defend Foley or anything like that (he's scum and
if he laid a hand on any of those kids he deserves to trip and fall down
those penitentiary stairs), but the overwhelming majority of molesters
were themselves molested. So I can believe he was molested. By a priest?
Maybe, but not as likely as by a family member.
Of course, just because someone was molested as a child, quite definitely
does _not_ excuse him molesting children himself.

Foley had cybersex while on the House floor voting. Either it is
normal for a drunk masturbator to be on the House floor during a
session or he was not drunk at the time. Either way it does not make
the Repubs look good.

Foley had cybersex while on the House floor voting. Either it is
normal for a drunk masturbator to be on the House floor during a
session or he was not drunk at the time. Either way it does not make
the Repubs look good.

Nor do all their furious attempts at diversion.
