Still fighting with my beloved dittoheads. They are just precious.
Is the conflict in Iraq really a war or is that just neocon spin?

Are you really interested in an answer or are you just looking for reasons
to justify the labels you apply to your opponents?

I am always interested in the answers.
I like being the one with the facts. Most of the people in
Alt.fan.rush-limbaugh are decent people.
I like arguing with the rest. Although it is starting to get to me.
Besides facts are irreverent to the ones who I am arguing with.

I am always interested in the answers.

My answer would be that since we do have an official congressional
resolution to back it, it's a war. The only ones who call me a neocon
are the extreme left-wing Democrat party-line types whom I argue with in
alt.atheism.

I get that impression from the extremists on both sides. Especially when
the Bush-bashers get all worked up.

Do you think 'neocon' is a derogatory term? Or it just describes a
certain philosophy, world view, association? Do you agree with them?

Do you think 'neocon' is a derogatory term?

That depends on who is using the term.
Is "*****" a derogatory term?

Or it just describes a
certain philosophy, world view, association? Do you agree with them?

Again, that depends on what worldview you attribute to "neocons".

***** IS a derogatory term. Though, you may find some who don't think
so, but very few.

It's well known what world view is attributed to them. Don't be slick.

***** IS a derogatory term. Though, you may find some who don't

From my own observation, it would appear that it's only derogatory if
someone not of black "experience" says it.

Ah, of course, the "neocon" as defined and spun by their political
opposites. The classic of that genre is the Noam Chomsky revision of the
PNAC document, which I see features heavily in this Asia Times article.
I note that you don't have any articles from the principal players in
the neoconservative movement themselves.
Tell me, do you let "neocons" define *your* worldview for you?

I think the Christian Science Monitor is a neutral paper, not a
political opposite. You are welcome to rebut the article or part of it.
Asia Times is left leaning, yes. But I thought you may find it
interesting how well they analyzed the war just one day after it started.
"As far as their "showdown Iraq" is concerned, it's not about weapons of
mass destruction, nor United Nations inspections, nor non-compliance,
nor a virtual connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda, nor the
liberation of the Iraqi people, nor a Middle East living in "democracy
and liberty". "
All of the charges of the Bush administration turned out to be untrue.
Though they still hang on to 'building democracy'. But this position is
becoming less and less defensible in light of the facts on the ground.

The right wing keeps saying we are at war. War has a definite meaning.
I think congress has to formally declare war.
Any way the thing in Iraqi, are we formally at war with the Iraqi
government. If we are president bush would have war time powers (I
believe. ) I am not buying that we can not criticized the war because
in fact there either is no war or the war is over.

You could say that it's a guerilla war, or several small guerilla
wars. Or you could call it an insurgency and not a war. Either way,
it's becoming more and more warlike.

Now it's just an occupation.

Then by international law all prisoners of war must be released.
Maybe I can sell the administration "waccupation" so they can have it both
ways.
