Is it true ? |
Hooray For That Judge In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the
preparation for Easter and Passover holidays and decided to contact the
local ACLU about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant
celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays
while the atheists had no holiday to celebrate.
The ACLU jumped on the opportunity to once again pick up the cause of the
godless and assigned their sharpest attorneys to the case.
The case was brought before a wise judge who after listening to the long,
passionate presentation of the ACLU lawyers, promptly banged his gavel
and declared, "Case dismissed!"
The lead ACLU lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and
said, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? Surely the
Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. And the
Jews--why in addition to Passover they have Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...
and yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!"
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said "Obviously your
client is too confused to know about or for that matter even celebrate the
atheists' holiday!"
The ACLU lawyer pompously said "We are aware of no such holiday for
atheists, just when might that be, your honor?"
The judge said, "Well it comes every year on exactly the same
date---April 1st!"

Well, actually, we have February 12, Darwin day, Darwin's birthday.
Galileo was born February 18, 1564.
We should take the week off.
Google: Darwin day.
Of course, we could be irritating and reclaim the
equinoxes and solstices as astronomical holidays.
And the quarterings too.
Spring Equinox
Beltane
Summer Solstice
Lugnasadh
Autumn Equinox
Samhain
Winter Solstice
Imbolc
The Autumnal Equinox was September 22, Samhain will be
November 7th, The Winter Solstice will be December 21.

Yeah, I know that, but in the joke, the atheist was complaining about
religious days being national holidays. The judge's answer makes no
sense if April the first isn't treated the same as the other days.

It's not supposed to be. so you atheists can have it - it's very
appropriate.
Who needs it? We make fools of you theists *every* day.
Seems to me, more often than not, that they make fools of themselves and
we just point it out.

No, it isn't true. Funny story though, if you're

Yes. It's the day we set aside to honor all those who believe without

Hooray For That Judge In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the
preparation for Easter and Passover holidays and decided to contact the
local ACLU about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant
celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while
the atheists had no holiday to celebrate.
The ACLU jumped on the opportunity to once again pick up the cause of the
godless and assigned their sharpest attorneys to the case.
The case was brought before a wise judge who after listening to the long,
passionate presentation of the ACLU lawyers, promptly banged his gavel and
declared, "Case dismissed!"
The lead ACLU lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and
said, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? Surely the
Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. And the
Jews--why in addition to Passover they have Yom Kippur and Hanukkah... and
yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!"
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said "Obviously your
client is too confused to know about or for that matter even celebrate the
atheists' holiday!"
The ACLU lawyer pompously said "We are aware of no such holiday for
atheists, just when might that be, your honor?"
The judge said, "Well it comes every year on exactly the same date---April
1st!"

It proves how little confidence they have in their own beliefs when
they feel that they have to put down the beliefs or lack of religious
beliefs of others. Such 'Christians' are more to be pitied than
anything else. But, along with the pity, you have to watch them very
carefully, since they can get very nasty when their weaknesses are
pointed out to them.

It's not just religion. For a while now the US has been about
self-esteem. It gets bolstered by demeaning others, rather than by
actually doing something to raise it.

Gee, thanks! I don't think I've heard that one in at least a few
months. The sad thing is that every time some ignorant christer
***** posts it, they seem to think they found something original.
They are wrong.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/atheist.asp
Go tell it to some of your other sheep friends. It never happened, but
they're so gullible that they'll believe it. They'll pat you on the
back and tell you what a fine christian you are, and hey then they'll
go spread it to other ignorant christers. They'll email it to their
other ignorant christer friends, too. But hey, that's how you got it,
right?
I guess bearing false witness is ok if you lie for jebus.
Being a christian must be hard. I'd never remember when or to whom I
was supposed to lie.
