Object: IS THERE A REAL GOD?
There are dozens of major religions and hundreds of variations of beliefs
within theses religions. There are thousands of additional different god
beliefs. The top dozen are;
Hinduism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Shinto, Confucianism, Jainism,
Taoism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, and Bahá'í
There is NO objective verifiable evidence as to the actual existence of any
of these gods. All of the beliefs are founded on the claims and opinions of
other men.
Why do people base their lives on such nebulous information? Of the
thousands of god beliefs, which if any, is the real god and why does this
god not clearly demonstrate he is the real god and which are fakes? Why
would any real god permit his creations to be so mislead and confused? The
evidence is that non of these are real gods but merely the 'creations' of
man!

Sorry, man:

Well, "religious people had no chosen to believe." The had been tamed
to believe. This changes all. They have had glimpses many times that
all this looks like fake, but they were able to wipe this diea out of
their mind because "they were tamed to agree" the his church is the
true church, and his faith the true faith, and that Christ is the true
god, etc. etc.
So they have been tame to be partialy rational only. They can be
rational on certain abilities, like driving a car, doing a business,
comparing prices, doing an accounting and so on. But the rational
approach is forbidden to apply in doctrinal or teological issues.
So they have no chosen to be religious, that have been tamed to be

Now, have you never read that this people are called sheep? They are

Well, "religious people had no chosen to believe." The had been tamed

If I understand your second sentence, you are saying that religious
people have had no choice; they had been raised to believe?
The majority have. I was....as a christian. This did not prevent me,
nor would it prevent anyone else, from examining their beliefs and
changing or abandoning them.

This changes all. They have had glimpses many times that
all this looks like fake, but they were able to wipe this diea out of

I agree. However, others can do as I did and change or abandon beliefs.
You seem to assume that a religion somehow prevents thought. It does
not. Every believer in any religion can choose to change despite
childhood indoctrination just as a gay can realize that all the
indoctrination about a male role since childhood does not apply to him.
He can choose to accept his nature.... one with which I have no problem,
btw.

Atheists? I think not. Wolves are out to destroy the herd; they often
kill because they can. Atheists are not sheep, do not usually attack as
wolves do, and do not need a shepherd. They and I are much alike.

well, some can get out and become free. The taming is not perfect in
some cases.
It is some cases the operant conditioning fails for several reasons.
But in general the conditioning succeed and most people do not risk the
social comforts by apostasizing.
Not many individuals want to risk the comfort of submitting.
On the other hand, perhaps by some accident, some people, like us, have
been conditioned to love truth more than lies. Or have by accident
been undully conditioned to hate a live based on lies.
I dont think most of them really believe. Unless the religious
individual is rather dull or a moron, they know his religion is
baseless or false. But the blessure is nearly closed and they do not
want to dig on it. So they accept to behave as if they really were
believing.
You see that polls say most people believe in a god, or so. If you try
to correlate this with the sort of movies that Hollywood make, with the
sort shows, and books and other entertainments, you can see that people
are not answering the truth in polls. People learn to live with the
lies and that becomes authomatic.
So, in a way, you perhpas do not choose, or even me, to be atheists.
But we were reacting against the social pressure and rebelling. When
the social conditioning is badly done, individuals can rebel
successfully. In most cases, individuals cannot act freely as you, me
or others, have done. A few people can rebel, but most of them do not
dare.

That is their problem. Every individual has to accept responsibility
for actions and deeds. Abandoning/rejecting beliefs requires some
measure of courage. If people do not have the courage and find it more
comfortable to be hypocrites and continue in childhood indoctrination,
that is their choice. They cannot be forced by any argument to do
otherwise. Not my choice; not the choice of many.

Agreed, for the reasons you stated.... social pressure, ease of
conforming, etc.

You see that polls say most people believe in a god, or so. If you

So, in a way, you perhpas do not choose, or even me, to be atheists.
But we were reacting against the social pressure and rebelling.

If you mean I was rebelling against what I was taught, no. Rebellion
was not a factor. I simply thought, read, questioned myself, and
decided for myself what I believed and did not believe. Also, many of
my ideas/beliefs are not carved in stone; I may change, add, discard,
or modify what I believe.... except for my belief in a deity. That is a
firm and unshakable belief....not based on facts or evidence....but
based on what I choose to believe.

When
the social conditioning is badly done, individuals can rebel
successfully. In most cases, individuals cannot act freely as you,
me or others, have done. A few people can rebel, but most of them do

Agreed. If parents taught their children to have courage, society might
be very surprised at the results.

I think what was being observed was the actions/behaviors of human

Humanity should stand on its own two feet and take responsibility for
its behavior.

Because they choose to do so. Belief cannot be based on facts and
objective provable evidence; that is why it is called belief and
not knowledge.

Actually beliefs can be based on evidence - ifn fact many people
think (believe!) that having your beliefs based upon evidence is a
good idea.

When discussing religion, belief cannot be based on evidence as none
exists....and religion is what I was discussing.

I know that is not true - for example:
Buddah observed that there was suffering in the world.
He observed that people would "cling" desperately to wealth and life
and "stuff " to find happiness - but it didnt necessarilly make them
happy.

Are you denying that we can observe these kinds of things?

I think what was being observed was the actions/behaviors of human
beings... for the greater part not dictated by religious beliefs no
matter that those beliefs are oft used as behavioral excuses.

Humanity should stand on its own two feet and take responsibility for
its behavior.

All very good - but I notice you don't want to answer my question.
Religions deal with lots of stuff - from the existence of supernatural
deities to the proper way to wash your hands - making blanket
statements - like "no beliefs of are a relifgion are evidence based" is
just exageration.
Religions are systems of thought and practice that tell the believer
how to think and behave about all sorts of issues - like any human
artifact they are *all* imperfect - some say stupid - even
*dangerously* stupid things - but they also all contain some wisdom.

All very good - but I notice you don't want to answer my question.

I thought I did. People clinging to wealth, life, and stuff is
observable human behavior. These things do not guarantee happiness...
agreed.

Religions deal with lots of stuff - from the existence of supernatural
deities to the proper way to wash your hands - making blanket
statements - like "no beliefs of are a relifgion are evidence based"
is just exageration.

"......or the greater part not dictated by religious beliefs no matter
that those beliefs are oft used as behavioral excuses." was simply
saying that people excuse their behaviors using religious reasons.

Religions are systems of thought and practice that tell the believer
how to think and behave about all sorts of issues - like any human
artifact they are *all* imperfect - some say stupid - even
*dangerously* stupid things - but they also all contain some wisdom.

Agreed. Almost all religions - the major ones and some of the minor
ones - have basic precepts in common. These precepts are a part of my
religion.

BILL, there IS an Almighty Creator of the World, The Universe and the
Spiritual World. He is above all others in creation. weather you
call Him "God" or whatnot, is upto you. how do you think you got here?
random accident of "evolution" ? I think not.
