06. Februar 2006 Auf den ersten Blick scheint es, als habe ein
Fl=E4chenbrand die islamische Welt erfa=DFt. In Beirut brennt das
d=E4nische Konsulat, und in Damaskus legen Randalierer Feuer in den
Botschaften D=E4nemarks und Norwegens. Militante Pal=E4stinenser
attackieren in Gaza die deutsche Vertretung, und auch in den
Hauptst=E4dten Irans, Indonesiens, =C4gyptens und Pakistans protestieren
Muslime.
Der Konflikt =FCber die Mohammed-Karikaturen scheint au=DFer Kontrolle zu
geraten. Nirgendwo in der islamischen Welt wird Verst=E4ndnis f=FCr die
Ver=F6ffentlichung der Karikaturen ge=E4u=DFert. Und doch ist die
Eskalation der Gewalt auf wenige Orte beschr=E4nkt.
In =C4gypten Trauer wegen F=E4hrungl=FCck
In Kairo sind auf der Buchmesse, die am Wochenende zu Ende ging, zwar
die Karikaturen zum beherrschenden Thema der Veranstaltungen geworden.
Ausschreitungen haben sich daran aber nicht entz=FCndet. Auch ist am
Sonntag der Protestzug von 1.000 Demonstranten in der Innenstadt von
Kairo friedlich verlaufen. Sie forderten ihre Regierung auf, die
Botschafter aus D=E4nemark und Norwegen abzuziehen. Und dann gingen sie
wieder nach Hause.
Dort besch=E4ftigt sie der Untergang einer =E4gyptischen F=E4hre im Roten
Meer weit mehr, und ohnehin steht =C4gypten im Fu=DFballfieber, denn das
Land tr=E4gt in diesen Tagen den Africa-Cup aus. Auch die islamistische
Opposition der Muslimbr=FCder hat sich verantwortungsvoll verhalten und
kein weiteres =D6l ins Feuer gegossen. Allerdings hatte die =E4gyptische
Regierung nach den Ausschreitungen von Damaskus und Beirut vor den
Botschaften der EU-Staaten sicherheitshalber die Polizeipr=E4senz
verst=E4rkt.
Radikale springen auf den fahrenden Zug auf
Auch arabische Beobachter fragen sich, weshalb der Streit =FCber
Karikaturen, die schon am 30. September in der d=E4nischen Zeitung
,,Jylland-Posten" erschienen waren, erst in diesen Tagen eskaliert,
und sie stellen sich die Frage, wer aus dem Geschehenen einen Vorteil
ziehe.
Es entsteht der Eindruck, da=DF auf den fahrenden Zug alle jene Radikale
aufspringen, die auf eine Gelegenheit gewartet haben, sich - aus
unterschiedlichen Gr=FCnden - am Westen zu r=E4chen und den latent
vorhandenen Volkszorn zu verst=E4rken. Denn die d=E4nischen Muslime
hatten sich ja befriedigt zu den Erkl=E4rungen der Regierung Rasmussen
ge=E4u=DFert und einen Aufruf zur Deeskalation ausgegeben.
Sie meinen eigentlich den Westen
In Syrien steht das Regime von Pr=E4sident Assad wegen seiner
mutma=DFlichen Beteiligung an der Ermordung des fr=FCheren libanesischen
Ministerpr=E4sidenten Hariri unter dem Druck der Staatengemeinschaft. Im
Libanon f=FCrchtet die islamistische Hizbullah um den Verlust ihrer
Schutzmacht Syrien.
Iran steht wegen seiner Atompolitik am Pranger der Staatengemeinschaft,
und in Saudi-Arabien wittern wiederum die Reformgegner eine Chance,
sich gegen=FCber dem Westen abgrenzen und ihre Identit=E4t als diejenigen
zu sch=E4rfen, die die Ehre des Islams hochhalten. Sie alle schlagen
D=E4nemark, meinen aber den Westen.
Demonstration von extremistischen Islamisten
R=E4tselhaft ist, was in Syrien geschieht, einem Polizeistaat, in dem es
keine ,,spontanen" Demonstrationen geben kann. Unklar ist, ob das
Regime Assad die Demonstranten bewu=DFt hat gew=E4hren lassen oder ob die
Demonstration au=DFer Kontrolle geriet, weil sich extremistische
Islamisten des Protests bem=E4chtigt hatten.
Die staatliche Nachrichtenagentur berichtete =FCber K=E4mpfe der
Anti-Terror-Einheiten mit einer islamistischen Gruppierung nahe
Damaskus. Der Gro=DFmufti Syriens, Scheich Badreddin Hassun, bedauerte
die ,,armselige" Weise der Kritik an D=E4nemark, und Muhammed
Habasch, der als einziger ,,unabh=E4ngiger" Islamist Mitglied des
syrischen Parlaments ist, teilte mit, keine bekannte islamische
Bewegung habe zu den Protesten aufgerufen.
Einen Keil zwischen die Religionsgruppen treiben
Besorgt =E4u=DFerte der libanesische Ministerpr=E4sident Siniora, den
Demonstranten von Beirut gehe es nicht um einen friedlichen Protest,
sondern darum, den Libanon zu destabilisieren. Das wird auch den
syrischen Geheimdiensten unterstellt, die seit dem Attentat auf Hariri
hinter der Welle politischer Morde in Beirut vermutet werden. Es gebe
Kr=E4fte, die einen Keil zwischen die Religionsgruppen treiben wollten,
sagte der sunnitische Politiker Siniora.
Scharf kritisierte zudem ein islamischer Religionsgelehrter des
Libanons die Ausschreitungen, die auch zu Angriffen auf Kirchen in
Beirut gef=FChrt haben. Sie seien trotz der Beleidigung des Propheten
nicht gerechtfertigt, sagt er. Auch der Generalsekret=E4r der gr=F6=DFten
islamistischen Partei Jordaniens mi=DFbilligte die Gewalt.
Vorwurf doppelten Standards in der Pressefreiheit
Der Sog der Brandstifter ist indessen so stark geworden, da=DF sich
selbst besonnene Personen dem Druck kaum entziehen k=F6nnen. Auch der
prowestliche K=F6nig Jordaniens, Abdullah II., hat die Ver=F6ffentlichung
der Karikaturen ein ,,Verbrechen" genannt, das selbst mit der
Meinungsfreiheit nicht gerechtfertigt werden d=FCrfe.
In Diskussionssendungen arabischer Fernsehsender ist nun h=E4ufig der
Vorwurf zu h=F6ren, der Westen lege bei der Pressefreiheit einen
doppelten Standard an: Zum einen rechtfertige er die Ver=F6ffentlichung
der Mohammed-Karikaturen mit der Pressefreiheit, zum anderen fordere er
von den arabischen Nachrichtensendern, die Ausstrahlung von Videos der
Terroristenf=FChrer Bin Ladins und Zawahiris zu unterlassen.
