You guys could have won the challenge pretty easily.I know alot obout those
subjects posted, but an expert in any one of them knows specific knowledge,
that I wouldnt know-I do not, obviously, know everything about
Ferromagnetics, piezoelectrics, and the various other things I noted in the
challenge.
So, a person with a complete understanding of any one of the subjects could
of course, make me lose.My knowledge is extensive for what I was involved
in, the geochemistry needed to do the jobs-GPS, AEGIS, Patriot, RACAL E, etc
etc, but I obviously could not know everything about each subject.

South Florida is going to get hammered. I'm feeling a
little veclemph -- discuss amongst yourselves. We could
sure use the rain 'round here, so no skin off my back.

When I lived in Clearwater, erm, "occupied" Clearwater, the rain was fairly
consistent.

Yup. It was pretty bad till some tropical storm parked
over the region 10 - 14 days ago. It barely got the
stream that feeds my pond going. The pond is several
feet below normal, with about a 1/4 acre mud flat where
the stream should be feeding in. The stream has since
dried up again, but the 4-5 inches of rain was a godsend.
Crops notwithstanding, there isn't really a water shortage.
More like a common sense shortage in regards to lawn care.
I couldn't believe it when I was in California. Everyone
(virtually) watered their lawn every day. Mind boggling.
Subsidized stupidity. That was 20 years ago. Let me
guess, things haven't changed much.

Well its been 5 years since I went back to LA to visit some folks-the
stupidity continues, and might be some genetic trait predisposed to idiocy.
Or, they just dont give a *****.
Probably the latter.

They are too busy saving the spotted owl to notice
that the Colorado is a trickling cesspool by the
time it reaches the ocean. There was an earthquake
when I was at Mono Lake, but I didn't notice it.
I didn't notice the one while I was skiing at Mammoth
Mountain on July 3. That was weird, skiing in July,
in shorts under a bright, hot sun. Snow can burn
and in more ways than one.

I experienced 3 that were obvious and moved things about quite about. One was
when I was doing a last minute court filing for a bunch of lawyers whose
habits were wait until the last minute, then send a courier to go file
somthing in court 40 to 70 miles away.Thats cool, they got charged the
max.Anyway, the line stretched out the door, and above the door was a large
glass "window"the quake was one of those back and forth types-I got out of
line and stood about 60 feet away from the building.Others, noticing the
window and my leaving the line, joined me until it was over.
Another was when I was buying some booze-this was more of an up and down
type motion- some booze came off the shelves, but no major damage.
The third one woke me out of sleep, and before I could get a robe on to
leave the apartment (1632 N Formosa,Hollywood Hills) it stopped.
Its weird, though, noticing how different quakes can have such a variety of
different movements.

Sometime in the last billing period (a 3 month cycle), we developed a
massive water leak somewhere in the system -- 18L per hour (and the
plumber has come and gone, and hasn't seemed to be able to have
isolated it).
And yet, the water usage of two males in the house is below average
for a _single_ person household in Melbourne.
I donut know what Melbournians do with their water, apart from water
their lawns with automated sprinklers at 3:00-4:00am, when it is
bucketing rain outside. Fecking feckers.

Umm. Most of them _shower_. Water usage for two of you is
below average for a single person, eh? Can, I just say, "eww?"

Oh, and I neglected to mention that the average shower length is
4mins, and I tend to shower for 15mins.

Your housemate is showering for -11 minutes a day. You should talk
