Last week I started a non credit beginner drawing class at the local
junior college. Last week it was working with charcoal. This week it
was starting a portrait. It's taking a B&W photo overlaying a 1/2"
grid on it and creating a 1" grid on the large heavy paper.
For one section I ended up going off the grid as it wouldn't work
otherwise. I was working on it today for a couple of hours. It's on
an easel in the living room by the large windows for natural light.
The overall size of the portrait is 15" x 18." It's definately going
to be interesting. It's being done in graphite so I've broken out the
chalk dust pad thingy and the drafting foxtail. Just before I lost
the light I had started the shading on the suitcoat and used the stump
to blend.
