St. Mary's pastor expected to plea bargain

Staff Writer
The attorney for Pastor Richard Reynolds, who is charged in connection
to a shooting at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, said Monday he expects
that his client will agree to a plea bargain within a week.
Reynold's attorney, Jim Hall, of Lompoc, appeared in a Lompoc court
room for the pastor Monday morning. Reynolds is charged with
misdemeanor counts of shooting into an unoccupied building and filing
a false police report for a Jan. 19 incident at the church, 2800
Harris Grade Road.
Reynolds initially told authorities that someone had fired into his
office when he was working alone in the evening. Church spokesmen said
Reynolds was under considerable stress at the time because of a number
of issues at the church.
Since the shooting, Reynolds has been relieved of his duties as pastor
at the church and as a chaplain with the Lompoc Police and Santa
Barbara County Sheriff's departments. His next court date has been
scheduled for Monday in Lompoc.
