It is more likely a matter of power corrupts, absolute power corrupts
absolutely. Unlike police officers, they are not constantly
monitored. Clergy are left alone with children all the time.
Parents tell children to absolutely obey clergy. Clergy scare
children with stories of hell for disobedience.
